It is one of seventy-two stone or brick houses identified in Rochester built before 1944. It also has associations with the Hasbrouck and Westbrook families.","narrative":"Set on a twenty-acre parcel on the west side of Old Kings Highway in Kyserike, this stone house is a fine example of the one-and-one-half story linear dwelling that dominated stone building in Ulster County and the town of Rochester from the late seventeenth century to the mid nineteenth century. The main block is attributed to Isaac Hasbrouck, who is thought to have built it in the mid-eighteenth century. Early in the nineteenth century it received a Greek Revival attic story, deep cornice, front porch and formal central entry, along with a rear stone wing that was later widened and joined by a frame addition. Among seventy-two stone or brick houses identified in Rochester built before 1944, it represents the most common local form. In the mid nineteenth century the Westbrook family acquired it; J. Westbrook boarded the young Alton Brooks Parker, later a judge and presidential candidate, while he taught at the nearby Accord school. A large six-seat privy of about 1880 also contributes.","period_of_significance":"ca.1750-ca.1890","architect_builder":null,"architectural_style":"Colonial/Dutch Colonial; Mid 19th Century/Greek Revival","criteria":["C"],"status_note":"Currently in use as a single dwelling, with a 20.5-acre parcel containing two contributing and three non-contributing buildings.","vacant_flag":false,"machine_generated":true,"model":"claude-sonnet-5-5","prompt_version":"v1.0-2026-10-29","generated_at":"2026-10-29 02:51:51.114028-05","source_pdf":"https://s3.amazonaws.com/NARAprodstorage/lz/electronic-records/rg-079/NPS_NY/99000997.pdf"},"photo":{"url_800":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/media/99000997/b49666db7c-800.webp","url_1600":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/media/99000997/b49666db7c-1600.webp","licence":"CC BY-SA 3.0","author":"Larry Arvidson","credit_html":"<a href=\"https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:P1050029_Stilwill-Westbrook_Stone_House,_482_Old_Kings_Highway,_Rochester,_Ulster_Cnty,_NY.png\" rel=\"noopener\">Larry Arvidson</a>, <a href=\"https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/3.0\" rel=\"license noopener\">CC BY-SA 3.0</a>, via Wikimedia Commons","source_page":"https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:P1050029_Stilwill-Westbrook_Stone_House,_482_Old_Kings_Highway,_Rochester,_Ulster_Cnty,_NY.png"},"district":null,"sources":{"nps_snapshot_date":"2026-05-22","nara_catalog":"https://catalog.archives.gov/id/75315190","wikipedia":"https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stilwill-Westbrook_Stone_House","wikidata":"https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q7617350"},"indexable":true,"url":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/new-york/ulster-county/stilwill-westbrook-stone-house-99000997/"}
