It is described as one of the most intact and sophisticated Queen Anne houses in the village, with asymmetrical massing, decorative shingle siding, a multi-gabled roof, tall corbelled chimneys and a prominent corner tower. It also recalls the village's late nineteenth century role as county seat and commercial center.","narrative":"Standing on a large, gently sloping corner lot at Murray and Stanley Streets in Mount Morris, this Queen Anne style house was built around 1890. It is a two and one-half story asymmetrical frame building with clapboard on the first floor, decorative wood shingles above, and a steeply pitched multi-gabled roof topped by tall brick chimneys with corbelled trim. An octagonal tower-like oriel marks the southwest front corner, and the gable-roofed entrance porch rests on slender Doric columns. A late nineteenth century cast-iron fence along the south and west sides contributes to the property, while a modern garage behind the house does not. Inside, original room layouts and abundant late Victorian ornament survive. The house was judged significant for architecture, as one of the most intact and sophisticated Queen Anne residences in the village. It also reflects Mount Morris in the late nineteenth century, when it served as the Livingston County seat and a center of commerce and light industry. An 1893 map shows the building.","period_of_significance":"ca. 1890","architect_builder":null,"architectural_style":"Late Victorian: Queen Anne","criteria":["C"],"status_note":"Used as a single dwelling; the interior is described as virtually intact with original room configurations and late Victorian ornamental detail.","vacant_flag":false,"machine_generated":true,"model":"claude-sonnet-5-5","prompt_version":"v1.0-2026-10-29","generated_at":"2026-10-29 02:51:50.392189-05","source_pdf":"https://s3.amazonaws.com/NARAprodstorage/lz/electronic-records/rg-079/NPS_NY/98001585.pdf"},"photo":{"url_800":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/media/98001585/8b11f06b9e-800.webp","url_1600":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/media/98001585/8b11f06b9e-1600.webp","licence":"Public domain","author":"Pubdog (talk)","credit_html":"<a href=\"https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:House_at_No_30_Murray_Street_Oct_09.JPG\" rel=\"noopener\">Pubdog (talk)</a>, Public domain, via Wikimedia Commons","source_page":"https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:House_at_No_30_Murray_Street_Oct_09.JPG"},"district":null,"sources":{"nps_snapshot_date":"2026-05-22","nara_catalog":"https://catalog.archives.gov/id/75313393","wikipedia":"https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/House_at_No._30_Murray_Street","wikidata":"https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q5914541"},"indexable":true,"url":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/new-york/livingston-county/house-at-no-30-at-murray-street-98001585/"}
