It is also associated with Orlando Kellogg and Judge Rowland Case Kellogg, who were influential political figures.","narrative":"Hubbard Hall is a 2-1/2 story clapboard building on Court Street in Elizabethtown, in the Adirondack Park. Orlando Kellogg, a lawyer and three-term congressman, built it in 1840 as a Federal-style residence. His son, Judge Rowland Case Kellogg, remodeled it in the 1890s into an asymmetrical Queen Anne house with multiple gables, dormers, a pedimented front bay and a deep porch. In 1925 it became a community hospital run by the Elizabethtown Community House, with a two-story wing designed by Thomas Lamb added in 1946. The hospital operated until 1967, after which the building served as a college branch and county offices. Neglect led to a demolition plan, but public effort saved it, and it was sold in 1996 with a deed restriction protecting its architectural style. It was then restored and rented. Interior features include a hand-operated wooden elevator and original woodwork.","period_of_significance":"1840-1948","architect_builder":"Unknown (the 1946 hospital wing was designed by architect Thomas Lamb)","architectural_style":"Late Victorian/Queen Anne","criteria":["A","B","C"],"status_note":"Restored after a threatened demolition and now rented to full occupancy by tenants including a law office, an optometrist, social service agencies, professional consultants and an arts and folk craft gallery.","vacant_flag":false,"machine_generated":true,"model":"claude-sonnet-5-5","prompt_version":"v1.0-2026-10-29","generated_at":"2026-10-29 02:51:51.012728-05","source_pdf":"https://s3.amazonaws.com/NARAprodstorage/lz/electronic-records/rg-079/NPS_NY/98001584.pdf"},"photo":{"url_800":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/media/98001584/aaff7b3040-800.webp","url_1600":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/media/98001584/aaff7b3040-1600.webp","licence":"CC BY-SA 3.0","author":"Mwanner","credit_html":"<a href=\"https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Hubbard_Hall,_Elizabethtown,_NY.jpg\" rel=\"noopener\">Mwanner</a>, <a href=\"https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/3.0\" rel=\"license noopener\">CC BY-SA 3.0</a>, via Wikimedia Commons","source_page":"https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Hubbard_Hall,_Elizabethtown,_NY.jpg"},"district":null,"sources":{"nps_snapshot_date":"2026-05-22","nara_catalog":"https://catalog.archives.gov/id/75317781","wikipedia":"https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hubbard_Hall_(Elizabethtown,_New_York)","wikidata":"https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q5926835"},"indexable":true,"url":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/new-york/essex-county/hubbard-hall-98001584/"}
