It also served as the town's government building and stood as a landmark in a largely agricultural area along Ridge Road.","narrative":"Greece Memorial Hall, at 2595 Ridge Road West, was built in 1919 as the town hall and a memorial to local veterans. Designed by Charles F. Crandall and John Strobel, it was dedicated in 1921 to honor 288 men from the town who served in World War I, thirteen of whom died. The two-story brick building has a slate roof, Flemish bond walls, stone quoins, a Tuscan-columned portico, a dentilled cornice and a round cupola. An auditorium sits behind the main block. Wings were added in 1936, and a two-part addition followed in 1955; the 1936 wings are counted as contributing, while the 1955 addition is not because of its age. A carriage barn beside the hall, dating between 1902 and 1924, also contributes. When built, the hall was a visible landmark in farmland between Rochester and Buffalo. It was recognized for its Colonial Revival design, its intact condition and its role in town government and remembrance of local service members.","period_of_significance":"1919 - 1936","architect_builder":"1919: Crandall & Strobel (Charles F.
