It also contains excellent examples of single- and multiple-family residences, including a Dutch Colonial Revival house and garden-type apartments, one set designed by architect Richard Kennon Perry (Criterion C).","narrative":"Four buildings on a ridge along the west side of Peachtree Road in Atlanta make up this small district: the Cauthorn House of 1921, the Knox Apartments of 1927, and the two Peachtree Road Apartments buildings of 1927-1928. The Cauthorn House is a two-story brick Dutch Colonial Revival home with a gambrel roof and a pedimented portico. The three-story blond-brick apartment buildings use Colonial Revival details and the garden-type plan, with a porch for each unit and, in the Peachtree Road Apartments, a courtyard between two buildings. Richard Kennon Perry designed those two buildings, his only apartment buildings in Atlanta. The group illustrates the 1920s apartment boom, when Peachtree Road was becoming a center for apartment living and the area lay just outside the city limits. Residents were largely small business owners, managers and salesmen. Since 1979 the buildings have operated as the Peachtree Commons condominiums. A fish pond and an entrance gate and fence were added later and do not contribute to the district.","period_of_significance":"1921-1928","architect_builder":"Richard Kennon Perry (1890-1954), architect of the Peachtree Road Apartments","architectural_style":"Late 19th and 20th Century Revivals/Colonial Revival (including Dutch Colonial Revival)","criteria":["A","C"],"status_note":"Historic functions continue: the buildings remain in domestic use as condominiums (Peachtree Commons), with the Cauthorn House functioning as a single-family residence.","vacant_flag":false,"machine_generated":true,"model":"claude-sonnet-5-5","prompt_version":"v1.0-2026-10-29","generated_at":"2026-10-29 02:55:42.671358-05","source_pdf":"https://s3.amazonaws.com/NARAprodstorage/lz/electronic-records/rg-079/NPS_GA/98000248.pdf"},"photo":null,"district":null,"sources":{"nps_snapshot_date":"2026-05-22","nara_catalog":"https://catalog.archives.gov/id/93208248","wikipedia":"https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Knox_Apartments,_Cauthorn_House_and_Peachtree_Road_Apartments_Historic_District","wikidata":"https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q6423513"},"indexable":true,"url":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/georgia/fulton-county/knox-apartments-cauthorn-house-and-peachtree-road-apartments-historic-district-98000248/"}
