It keeps a high degree of integrity in design and materials inside and out. Evidence also suggests it may have been a kit house from a Gordon-Van Tine catalogue.","narrative":"Built in 1926 along Route 23B, about a quarter mile west of the older core of the Hamlet of Claverack, this is a small frame bungalow with a side-gabled roof, two large dormers and a broad arched front porch. The walls are stucco over a poured concrete foundation, and wide eaves are carried on simple three-board brackets. Inside, leaded and stained glass, Douglas fir woodwork, built-in cabinets and original bathroom fixtures survive. The house is recognized as an outstanding, unusually intact local example of the Craftsman-influenced Bungalow form. Its history is unclear, but it closely resembles design No. 531 in a 1923 Gordon-Van Tine catalogue, including the garage, so it may have been a precut kit house shipped by rail. The front porch was enclosed soon after construction, as the company recommended. A matching garage at the southeast corner of the lot is also counted as contributing.","period_of_significance":"1926","architect_builder":null,"architectural_style":"Late 19th and Early 20th Century American Movements/Bungalow","criteria":["C"],"status_note":"Remains in use as a single-family dwelling; the original interior finishes and fittings are largely intact.","vacant_flag":false,"machine_generated":true,"model":"claude-sonnet-5-5","prompt_version":"v1.0-2026-10-29","generated_at":"2026-10-29 02:51:50.15038-05","source_pdf":"https://s3.amazonaws.com/NARAprodstorage/lz/electronic-records/rg-079/NPS_NY/97000946.pdf"},"photo":{"url_800":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/media/97000946/2a4dccfc92-800.webp","url_1600":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/media/97000946/2a4dccfc92-1600.webp","licence":"CC BY-SA 3.0","author":"Daniel Case","credit_html":"<a href=\"https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Harriet_Phillips_Bungalow.jpg\" rel=\"noopener\">Daniel Case</a>, <a href=\"https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/3.0\" rel=\"license noopener\">CC BY-SA 3.0</a>, via Wikimedia Commons","source_page":"https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Harriet_Phillips_Bungalow.jpg"},"district":null,"sources":{"nps_snapshot_date":"2026-05-22","nara_catalog":"https://catalog.archives.gov/id/75312369","wikipedia":"https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Harriet_Phillips_Bungalow","wikidata":"https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q1539540"},"indexable":true,"url":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/new-york/columbia-county/phillips-harriet-bungalow-97000946/"}
