It features a hipped roof, symmetrical facade, classical pedimented entrance and refined detailing. Its setting on Tudor Place and its intact center-hall interior add to its significance.","narrative":"Built in 1937 at 36 Tudor Place in western Buffalo, this two-and-one-half story Colonial Revival house was designed by local architect Albert Hart Hopkins and built by Rixon Construction Company for Colonel William Kelly, an Army engineer and later president of the Buffalo Niagara Electric Corporation. It sits on part of the former Albright estate grounds. The wood-frame house is faced in variegated red and brown brick, with darker headers suggesting quoins, a low hipped roof with dentils and modillions, and a pedimented entrance with fluted Doric columns and an Adamesque surround. An L-shaped plan includes a rear wing with an attached garage and servants' bedrooms. Inside, the center-hall plan, oak and gumwood finishes, and built-in cabinetry remain largely original. Only the slate roof has been replaced, with asphalt shingles. The house was listed for its architectural quality, its integrity, and its place on a street of similar revival-style homes, and it reflects the tastes and status of its original owner.","period_of_significance":"1937","architect_builder":"Architect: Albert Hart Hopkins; Builder: Rixon Construction Co., Inc.","architectural_style":"Colonial Revival","criteria":["C"],"status_note":"Described as having undergone few alterations since 1937 and being in excellent condition; still used as a single dwelling.","vacant_flag":false,"machine_generated":true,"model":"claude-sonnet-5-5","prompt_version":"v1.0-2026-10-29","generated_at":"2026-10-29 02:51:51.32399-05","source_pdf":"https://s3.amazonaws.com/NARAprodstorage/lz/electronic-records/rg-079/NPS_NY/97000414.pdf"},"photo":{"url_800":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/media/97000414/ea55f58426-800.webp","url_1600":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/media/97000414/ea55f58426-1600.webp","licence":"CC BY 2.0","author":"David from Buffalo, NY","credit_html":"<a href=\"https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Col_William_Kelly_House_Jan_10.jpg\" rel=\"noopener\">David from Buffalo, NY</a>, <a href=\"https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/2.0\" rel=\"license noopener\">CC BY 2.0</a>, via Wikimedia Commons","source_page":"https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Col_William_Kelly_House_Jan_10.jpg"},"district":{"nrhp_refnum":"82005029","name":"Delaware Park-Front Park System","url":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/districts/new-york/delaware-park-front-park-system-82005029/"},"sources":{"nps_snapshot_date":"2026-05-22","nara_catalog":"https://catalog.archives.gov/id/75317647","wikipedia":"https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Col._William_Kelly_House","wikidata":"https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q5141797"},"indexable":true,"url":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/new-york/erie-county/kelly-col-william-house-97000414/"}
