It retains its distinctive complex massing, a curved wall on the northwest corner, and an unusually elaborate living room inglenook. It keeps integrity of construction, form, materials and detailing inside and out.","narrative":"Built in 1919 at 105 Strathmore Drive in Syracuse, this two-and-one-half-story house combines stucco on parts of the first story with wood shingles above. Ward Wellington Ward designed it in the Arts and Crafts style for the new Strathmore development, and Judson W. Clark of Clark and Porter, Inc. built it on speculation. Its massing is complex, with projecting bays, dormers and varied gables, and one corner wall curves outward in a form not known in any other Ward house. Inside, the living room inglenook has turned balusters, wood carving, a wood mantle and a painted tile fireplace, and leaded glass appears throughout. Original moldings, floors, built-in cabinets, a milk door and an ice box survive. Changes have been modest: a 1970s kitchen remodeling and an enclosed front porch. A hipped-roof garage built with the house also contributes. The property was listed for its architectural value as a well-preserved example of Ward's residential work.","period_of_significance":"1919","architect_builder":"Ward, Ward Wellington","architectural_style":"Arts and Crafts","criteria":["C"],"status_note":"Described as in good condition on the exterior and interior; still used as a single dwelling.","vacant_flag":false,"machine_generated":true,"model":"claude-sonnet-5-5","prompt_version":"v1.0-2026-10-29","generated_at":"2026-10-29 02:51:50.539329-05","source_pdf":"https://s3.amazonaws.com/NARAprodstorage/lz/electronic-records/rg-079/NPS_NY/97000090.pdf"},"photo":{"url_800":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/media/97000090/744533bcf6-800.webp","url_1600":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/media/97000090/744533bcf6-1600.webp","licence":"CC BY-SA 3.0","author":"Doncram","credit_html":"<a href=\"https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:ClarkHouse_2007_12_13_105StrathmoreDr1sm.jpg\" rel=\"noopener\">Doncram</a>, <a href=\"https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/3.0\" rel=\"license noopener\">CC BY-SA 3.0</a>, via Wikimedia Commons","source_page":"https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:ClarkHouse_2007_12_13_105StrathmoreDr1sm.jpg"},"district":{"nrhp_refnum":"06000564","name":"Strathmore \"By the Park\" Subdivision","url":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/districts/new-york/strathmore-by-the-park-subdivision-06000564/"},"sources":{"nps_snapshot_date":"2026-05-22","nara_catalog":"https://catalog.archives.gov/id/75314023","wikipedia":"https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Clark_House_(Syracuse,_New_York)","wikidata":"https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q5127276"},"indexable":true,"url":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/new-york/onondaga-county/clark-house-97000090/"}
