It keeps its distinctive Arts and Crafts features and its original form, materials and detailing inside and out. It is one of five nearly identical houses built from the same Ward plan.","narrative":"Built in 1916 in the Scottholm neighborhood of Syracuse, this two-story house was designed by architect Ward Wellington Ward for contractor and real estate developer Amon F. Sanderson. It has cedar clapboards in alternating narrow and wide bands on the first story, stucco above, and a gable-on-hipped roof. Gables with cutout stars and crescent moons, and windows with pointed-arch upper lights, are typical Ward details. Inside, the original plan survives, including an inglenook with a Mercer tile fireplace and cabinets with leaded glass doors. A hollow tile garage, reportedly also by Ward, stands at the rear. The house is one of five nearly identical homes in Syracuse built from the same Ward plan. Its Arts and Crafts character is mixed with Prairie-style rectilinear forms and wide overhanging eaves. Only two families have owned it. It was listed for its architecture and the integrity of its form, materials and detailing.","period_of_significance":"1916","architect_builder":"Ward, Ward Wellington","architectural_style":"Arts and Crafts","criteria":["C"],"status_note":"Described as in good condition inside and out; used as a single dwelling.
