It is now a museum.","why_significant":"The house links the Spanish Colonial period and the Hispanic settlers of early Texas through its ties to Mission Concepción and the Yturri family. It is also described as the best preserved of the few remaining vernacular adobe houses in San Antonio. It is significant locally under Criterion A (Ethnic Heritage/Hispanic) and Criterion C (Architecture).","narrative":"Built about 1859, this one-story adobe house on Yellowstone Street in San Antonio follows a triple-pen plan with a full-length front porch, 18-inch lime-plastered adobe walls on a limestone foundation, a standing seam metal roof and a rear lean-to. A limestone-lined acequia from about 1730, part of the irrigation system of Mission Concepción, runs beneath the north end of the house. The land came from the former mission holdings and was acquired by merchant Manuel Yturri de Castillo in the 1820s, then passed through his family until his granddaughter willed it to the San Antonio Conservation Society in 1961. The property was listed for its link to Hispanic settlement and for its architecture, as the best preserved of the few adobe houses left in San Antonio. The reconstructed mill, a moved carriage house and another moved house are noncontributing. Restoration included lime plaster repairs and a rebuilt porch.","period_of_significance":"ca. 1730 - 1946","architect_builder":"unknown","architectural_style":"Other: Vernacular triple-pen","criteria":["A","C"],"status_note":"Current function is a museum; the San Antonio Conservation Society has held the property since 1961 and carried out restoration work. The mill is a reconstruction, and the Oge Carriage House and Postert House were moved to the site.","vacant_flag":false,"machine_generated":true,"model":"claude-sonnet-5-5","prompt_version":"v1.0-2026-10-29","generated_at":"2026-10-29 02:54:23.76019-05","source_pdf":"https://s3.amazonaws.com/NARAprodstorage/opastorage/live/69/9712/40971269/content/electronic-records/rg-079/NPS_TX/96000870.pdf"},"photo":{"url_800":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/media/96000870/9a5c3e0fac-800.webp","url_1600":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/media/96000870/9a5c3e0fac-1600.webp","licence":"CC BY-SA 3.0","author":"Renelibrary","credit_html":"<a href=\"https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Yturriedmunds1.jpg\" rel=\"noopener\">Renelibrary</a>, <a href=\"https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/3.0\" rel=\"license noopener\">CC BY-SA 3.0</a>, via Wikimedia Commons","source_page":"https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Yturriedmunds1.jpg"},"district":{"nrhp_refnum":"75001953","name":"Mission Parkway","url":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/districts/texas/mission-parkway-75001953/"},"sources":{"nps_snapshot_date":"2026-05-22","nara_catalog":"https://catalog.archives.gov/id/40971269","wikipedia":"https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yturri%E2%80%93Edmunds_Historic_Site","wikidata":"https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q14711415"},"indexable":true,"url":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/texas/bexar-county/yturri-edmunds-house-96000870/"}
