The farm has been in continuous agricultural use since about 1777 and is one of the town's best-preserved farms. Its land has not been exposed to modern agricultural chemicals or machinery, and extensive family journals document its farming record.","narrative":"Bullard Farm is a 150-acre farm in southeastern Holliston, Massachusetts, farmed continuously since about 1777. Its focal point is a 2 1/2 story, five-bay clapboarded Georgian house built in 1794 around a center chimney. The rear ell incorporates the one-story house Henry Bullard built in 1777, which was moved when the larger house went up. The complex also holds a barn, cider mill, vinegar house, corncrib, blacksmith shop, locker building and henhouse, along with several thousand feet of stone walls and two cow passes. Major renovations took place in 1926 after the Bullard Memorial Farm Association was formed. Henry Bullard III stopped serious farming around 1900, so the soil escaped modern chemicals and petroleum-powered machinery. His journals from 1845 to 1902 survive in a collection at Old Sturbridge Village. The farm was listed for its Georgian architecture and its long agricultural record, with fields and woodlot still resembling their historic appearance.","period_of_significance":"1777-1945","architect_builder":null,"architectural_style":"COLONIAL/Georgian","criteria":["A","C"],"status_note":"Still used as a farm and single dwelling, with a museum in the vinegar house and a library in the corncrib; woodlot used as a tree farm.","vacant_flag":false,"machine_generated":true,"model":"claude-sonnet-5-5","prompt_version":"v1.0-2026-10-29","generated_at":"2026-10-29 02:13:03.543113-05","source_pdf":"https://s3.amazonaws.com/NARAprodstorage/opastorage/live/28/7956/63795628/content/electronic-records/rg-079/NPS_MA/95000710.pdf"},"photo":{"url_800":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/media/95000710/2d9d3b7807-800.webp","url_1600":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/media/95000710/2d9d3b7807-1600.webp","licence":"CC BY-SA 4.0","author":"User:Magicpiano","credit_html":"<a href=\"https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:HollistonMA_BullardFarm.jpg\" rel=\"noopener\">User:Magicpiano</a>, <a href=\"https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0\" rel=\"license noopener\">CC BY-SA 4.0</a>, via Wikimedia Commons","source_page":"https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:HollistonMA_BullardFarm.jpg"},"district":null,"sources":{"nps_snapshot_date":"2026-05-22","nara_catalog":"https://catalog.archives.gov/id/63795628","wikipedia":"https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bullard_Farm","wikidata":"https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q4996676"},"indexable":true,"url":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/massachusetts/middlesex-county/bullard-farm-95000710/"}
