It is also regarded as the most intact rural frame church of its type in Duplin County, with a virtually unaltered interior including original benches and battered door and window surrounds.","narrative":"Hebron Presbyterian Church is a small, one-story, gable-front frame church on a brick pier foundation in rural Albertson Township, Duplin County, North Carolina. Organized in 1886 as Sutton's Branch Church, the congregation first met at Sutton's Branch School before the present site was deeded to it in 1889. The church was completed and dedicated in October 1890. Its interior has a simple nave with a center aisle and raised chancel, original handmade benches, and woodwork featuring battered surrounds and paneled aprons. Its towering double-leaf entrance and early Stewart Iron Works cemetery fence are notable features. The church is tied to the Home Missions movement in the Presbyterian Church's North Carolina synod and Wilmington Presbytery, and it is regarded as the most intact of the rural frame churches built in Duplin County in the late nineteenth century. Its setting along an unpaved road, surrounded by fields and woodland, remains largely unchanged.","period_of_significance":"1886-1926","architect_builder":null,"architectural_style":"Late Gothic Revival","criteria":["A","C"],"status_note":"The property is in excellent condition and has undergone very little alteration.","vacant_flag":false,"machine_generated":true,"model":"claude-haiku-5-5","prompt_version":"v1.1-2026-10-29","generated_at":"2026-10-29 17:11:42.65472-05","source_pdf":"https://s3.amazonaws.com/NARAprodstorage/opastorage/live/19/7200/47720019/content/electronic-records/rg-079/NPS_NC/95000144.pdf"},"photo":null,"district":null,"sources":{"nps_snapshot_date":"2026-05-22","nara_catalog":"https://catalog.archives.gov/id/47720019","wikipedia":"https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hebron_Presbyterian_Church","wikidata":"https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q18392577"},"indexable":true,"url":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/north-carolina/duplin-county/hebron-presbyterian-church-95000144/"}
