It is associated with the village's post-Civil War prosperity. The nomination calls it one of the finest and most elaborately detailed Queen Anne-style residences in the village.","narrative":"This two-and-one-half-story frame house on South Main Street in Moravia, New York, dates to about 1890 and is an example of Queen Anne residential design. It faces east on a residential block south of the business district, opposite the Moravia Central School. The house has a steeply pitched hipped roof with gabled bays projecting on three sides, ornamental roof cresting, a cut stone foundation and wood weatherboard walls. A full-width porch carries turned and jigsaw-cut ornament, including a sunburst in the entrance gable. The gables hold square-cut shingles, twelve-light windows and decorative vergeboard, and the rectilinear detailing reflects Eastlake influence. Deed records suggest it was built between 1886 and 1894, after land was sold by Capt. Edwin C. Pulver to his son-in-law Miles Cook. The house was listed for its architecture, as an intact and elaborately detailed example of the style tied to the village's prosperity after the Civil War. The interior keeps its original floor plan and finishes.","period_of_significance":"ca. 1890","architect_builder":"Unknown","architectural_style":"Late Victorian: Queen Anne","criteria":["C"],"status_note":"Currently used as a single dwelling; the interior retains its historic floor plan and finishes.","vacant_flag":false,"machine_generated":true,"model":"claude-sonnet-5-5","prompt_version":"v1.0-2026-10-29","generated_at":"2026-10-29 02:51:51.52739-05","source_pdf":"https://s3.amazonaws.com/NARAprodstorage/lz/electronic-records/rg-079/NPS_NY/95000064.pdf"},"photo":{"url_800":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/media/95000064/363e957245-800.webp","url_1600":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/media/95000064/363e957245-1600.webp","licence":"CC BY-SA 4.0","author":"Doncram","credit_html":"<a href=\"https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:House_at_36_South_Main_Street.jpeg\" rel=\"noopener\">Doncram</a>, <a href=\"https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0\" rel=\"license noopener\">CC BY-SA 4.0</a>, via Wikimedia Commons","source_page":"https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:House_at_36_South_Main_Street.jpeg"},"district":null,"sources":{"nps_snapshot_date":"2026-05-22","nara_catalog":"https://catalog.archives.gov/id/75312194","wikipedia":"https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/House_at_36_South_Main_Street","wikidata":"https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q5914278"},"indexable":true,"url":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/new-york/cayuga-county/house-at-36-south-main-street-95000064/"}
