It is also an outstanding example of a Spanish Colonial Revival bungalow court, built at the height of that style's popularity. It is relatively unaltered and in excellent condition.","narrative":"Mary Louise Court is a 1928 bungalow court at 583-599 North Mentor Avenue in Pasadena. Seven wood-frame, stucco-clad buildings are arranged in a U shape on a lot 117 feet wide and 191 feet deep. A rear structure holds four units, two middle buildings hold three units each, and four front buildings contain single units. Varied building sizes, an irregular stone path and palm trees, including Mexican Fan Palms, give the court the feel of a small village. Arched porches, tiled roofs, stucco walls and stone detailing evoke an affordable Southern California version of Mediterranean living. Robert Harris, the original owner, is listed on the building permits as architect and contractor. The court was listed for its architecture. It is considered one of the best Pasadena examples of the bungalow court form and an outstanding Spanish Colonial Revival example. It remains in excellent condition with few alterations, such as screen doors and window air conditioners.","period_of_significance":"1928","architect_builder":"Harris, Robert (Architect); also listed on building permits as contractor","architectural_style":"Spanish Colonial Revival","criteria":["C"],"status_note":"Described as in excellent condition and relatively unaltered; still used as multiple dwellings.","vacant_flag":false,"machine_generated":true,"model":"claude-sonnet-5-5","prompt_version":"v1.0-2026-10-29","generated_at":"2026-10-29 02:54:28.26826-05","source_pdf":"https://s3.amazonaws.com/NARAprodstorage/lz/electronic-records/rg-079/NPS_CA/94001318.pdf"},"photo":{"url_800":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/media/94001318/8a1326660b-800.webp","url_1600":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/media/94001318/8a1326660b-1600.webp","licence":"CC BY-SA 3.0","author":"TheCatalyst31","credit_html":"<a href=\"https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Mary_Louise_Court_3.JPG\" rel=\"noopener\">TheCatalyst31</a>, <a href=\"https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/3.0\" rel=\"license noopener\">CC BY-SA 3.0</a>, via Wikimedia Commons","source_page":"https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Mary_Louise_Court_3.JPG"},"district":null,"sources":{"nps_snapshot_date":"2026-05-22","nara_catalog":"https://catalog.archives.gov/id/123857548","wikipedia":"https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mary_Louise_Court","wikidata":"https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q15249565"},"indexable":true,"url":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/california/los-angeles-county/mary-louise-court-94001318/"}
