It has a brick first story, a stuccoed frame upper story, a slate hip roof, a three-story battlemented tower, a conservatory and a curving wraparound porch. Inside, a paneled front hall holds a grand stair and an inglenook, and the main rooms have mantels with overmantel mirrors. Outbuildings include a cook's house, a garage, an icehouse, a drive and a stone wall with gate pillars. The land has been held by the Ingles family since the eighteenth century. Ingles designed the house, but a fire destroyed the first version the night before the family planned to move in. The present house was built on its foundations and finished in 1893. It is recognized for its architecture and for Ingles, who helped build railroads across the Southeast and served in many Radford business and civic roles.","period_of_significance":"1892-1920","architect_builder":"Ingles, William","architectural_style":"Queen Anne","criteria":["B","C"],"status_note":"Historic and current function is single dwelling with secondary structures; the form describes high architectural integrity.","vacant_flag":false,"machine_generated":true,"model":"claude-sonnet-5-5","prompt_version":"v1.0-2026-10-29","generated_at":"2026-10-29 02:52:01.105617-05","source_pdf":"https://s3.amazonaws.com/NARAprodstorage/opastorage/live/7/6828/41682807/content/electronic-records/rg-079/NPS_VA/94000991.pdf"},"photo":{"url_800":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/media/94000991/589f023ad2-800.webp","url_1600":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/media/94000991/589f023ad2-1600.webp","licence":"CC BY-SA 3.0","author":"Skye Marthaler","credit_html":"<a href=\"https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:La_Riviere_Radford_Virginia.JPG\" rel=\"noopener\">Skye Marthaler</a>, <a href=\"https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/3.0\" rel=\"license noopener\">CC BY-SA 3.0</a>, via Wikimedia Commons","source_page":"https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:La_Riviere_Radford_Virginia.JPG"},"district":null,"sources":{"nps_snapshot_date":"2026-05-22","nara_catalog":"https://catalog.archives.gov/id/41682807","wikipedia":"https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/La_Riviere_(Radford,_Virginia)","wikidata":"https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q16893848"},"indexable":true,"url":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/virginia/radford/la-riviere-94000991/"}
