It keeps an exceptionally high level of integrity inside and out, including original oak woodwork, a parquet parlor floor and stained glass. The gazebo, well and garage add to its setting.","narrative":"Built in 1906 for Milton Wilson, a Rushville hardware store owner, this two-and-one-half-story frame house at 28 Gilbert Street shows how Queen Anne design lingered in a Finger Lakes village after 1900. William S. Middlebrook of Middlesex was the builder. The T-shaped, cross-gabled house has a wrap-around porch with a corner entrance, turned posts and spindlework, along with clapboard, shingle and tongue-and-groove surfaces. Classical touches include a Palladian-style window and a pedimented porch entrance, and the paired corner windows are unusual. Inside, original oak trim, plaster walls, built-in cabinetry, stained glass and an elaborate parquet parlor floor survive. A gazebo with the original well equipment and a ca. 1926 garage complete the one-acre property. The house stayed in the Wilson family, and in 1926 passed to his grandson, whose wife taught piano in the music room. It was listed for its architecture and its exceptionally intact condition.","period_of_significance":"1906-1926","architect_builder":"Middlebrook, William S.","architectural_style":"Late Victorian/Queen Anne","criteria":["C"],"status_note":"Still used as a single-family dwelling; interior and exterior described as substantially intact and in good condition.","vacant_flag":false,"machine_generated":true,"model":"claude-sonnet-5-5","prompt_version":"v1.0-2026-10-29","generated_at":"2026-10-29 02:51:50.742654-05","source_pdf":"https://s3.amazonaws.com/NARAprodstorage/lz/electronic-records/rg-079/NPS_NY/94000968.pdf"},"photo":null,"district":null,"sources":{"nps_snapshot_date":"2026-05-22","nara_catalog":"https://catalog.archives.gov/id/75315554","wikipedia":"https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Milton_Wilson_House","wikidata":"https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q6861523"},"indexable":true,"url":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/new-york/yates-county/wilson-milton-house-94000968/"}
