It was left out of the original 1985 district by mistake and is similar to other vernacular houses in the district.","narrative":"A small tenant house on a cotton farm in Homer, Banks County, Georgia, the Manjack House was added to the Homer Historic District in 1993 when the district boundary grew by two acres. It had been left out when the district was first listed in 1985. Built between 1880 and 1900, it began as an L-shaped, four-room, wood-framed dwelling with a shed porch. In the early 20th century a front bedroom was added and the gabled roof expanded. Craftsman touches include exposed rafters, 3/1 double-hung windows and a front gabled porch with posts on brick piers. The house served the Lucas N. Turk farm and sits about 300 feet behind the main house, near a mature oak grove. It is considered significant as an example of the tenant housing used on rural Georgia cotton farms in the early 1900s, and it resembles other vernacular houses in the district. The property was rehabilitated and certified in 1992.","period_of_significance":null,"architect_builder":null,"architectural_style":"Bungalow/Craftsman","criteria":["C"],"status_note":"The property was recently rehabilitated and received final certification of completed work on May 1, 1992.","vacant_flag":null,"machine_generated":true,"model":"claude-sonnet-5-5","prompt_version":"v1.0-2026-10-29","generated_at":"2026-10-29 02:55:42.886541-05","source_pdf":"https://s3.amazonaws.com/NARAprodstorage/lz/electronic-records/rg-079/NPS_GA/93000422.pdf"},"photo":{"url_800":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/media/93000422/ca2b17d4c7-800.webp","url_1600":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/media/93000422/ca2b17d4c7-1600.webp","licence":"CC BY-SA 3.0","author":"Gwringle","credit_html":"<a href=\"https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Historic_Homer_Hwy_%26_Athens_Street,_photographer_facing_SE_(2).JPG\" rel=\"noopener\">Gwringle</a>, <a href=\"https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/3.0\" rel=\"license noopener\">CC BY-SA 3.0</a>, via Wikimedia Commons","source_page":"https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Historic_Homer_Hwy_%26_Athens_Street,_photographer_facing_SE_(2).JPG"},"district":{"nrhp_refnum":"85003110","name":"Homer Historic District","url":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/districts/georgia/homer-historic-district-85003110/"},"sources":{"nps_snapshot_date":"2026-05-22","nara_catalog":"https://catalog.archives.gov/id/93206895","wikipedia":null,"wikidata":"https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q49502649"},"indexable":true,"url":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/georgia/banks-county/homer-historic-district-boundary-increase-93000422/"}
