Henry Fletcher built both ca. 1810-1813 on about 11 acres.","why_significant":"The house and barn are well-preserved examples of late Georgian architecture in Westford. Together with the surrounding land they represent the family farmsteads typical of the town in the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. They are also tied to Henry Fletcher, a member of one of Westford's first and most prolific families. The barn shows the reuse of timbers from the neighboring Proctor House.","narrative":"Built between about 1810 and 1813 by Henry Fletcher, a Westford yeoman, this farmstead on Concord Road consists of a two-story, five-bay timber-frame house and a two-bay timber-frame barn. The house is late Georgian in design, with a central chimney, a pilastered entry, and interior finishes mixing Georgian and Federal motifs, including a mantel derived from a pattern in Asher Benjamin's 1797 builder's guide. A rear ell and several twentieth-century additions were made later. The barn was enlarged in 1827 using timbers from a dismantled section of the nearby Proctor House. The Fletcher family farmed here until 1861, followed by later farming owners, including poultry raising in the early twentieth century. A lawyer bought it in 1929 as a summer home, and subsistence farming largely ended. The property was listed for its architecture and for its example of the Westford family farm. The grounds also have archaeological potential for both prehistoric and historic remains.","period_of_significance":"1810-1930","architect_builder":"Fletcher, Henry","architectural_style":"Colonial: Georgian","criteria":["A","C"],"status_note":"Still used as a private residence; the form says the property remains remarkably intact despite twentieth-century additions.","vacant_flag":false,"machine_generated":true,"model":"claude-sonnet-5-5","prompt_version":"v1.0-2026-10-29","generated_at":"2026-10-29 02:13:04.594119-05","source_pdf":"https://s3.amazonaws.com/NARAprodstorage/opastorage/live/10/7955/63795510/content/electronic-records/rg-079/NPS_MA/93000010.pdf"},"photo":{"url_800":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/media/93000010/5ccb578fe9-800.webp","url_1600":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/media/93000010/5ccb578fe9-1600.webp","licence":"CC BY-SA 4.0","author":"User:Magicpiano","credit_html":"<a href=\"https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:WestfordMA_HenryFletcherHouse.jpg\" rel=\"noopener\">User:Magicpiano</a>, <a href=\"https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0\" rel=\"license noopener\">CC BY-SA 4.0</a>, via Wikimedia Commons","source_page":"https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:WestfordMA_HenryFletcherHouse.jpg"},"district":null,"sources":{"nps_snapshot_date":"2026-05-22","nara_catalog":"https://catalog.archives.gov/id/63795510","wikipedia":"https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Henry_Fletcher_House","wikidata":"https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q5721329"},"indexable":true,"url":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/massachusetts/middlesex-county/fletcher-henry-house-93000010/"}
