Meyer Road in Cochecton, Sullivan County, New York, built in 1892 for Elias Page and enlarged in 1905. It sits beside the railroad and the Delaware River floodplain with a springhouse and a small barn.","why_significant":"The house is significant under Criterion C as one of the finest and most intact examples of Queen Anne architecture in the Upper Delaware Valley. It keeps its original layout, mahogany woodwork and period detailing. It also has ties to local industry and transportation through its use as a residence and boardinghouse near the railroad and a former oil pipeline pumping station.","narrative":"Built in 1892 for Elias Page, this large Queen Anne house in Cochecton overlooks the Delaware River floodplain known as Cochecton Flats, with the railroad running in front and Route 97 behind. The two-story, cross-gabled building has irregular rooflines, fish-scale shingling, a domed corner tower and a long verandah with a sunburst pediment. A gabled addition in 1905 prepared it for use as both a family residence and a boardinghouse serving rail travellers and likely workers at the nearby Standard Oil pumping station. Boarding ended soon after the station closed in 1926. Inside, the sixteen rooms keep their original layout, with mahogany woodwork, pocket doors, elaborate staircases and brass hardware, and some guest room doors still carry numbered plates from the boardinghouse years. A springhouse and small barn stand to the south. The house was listed for its architecture as an outstanding local example of Queen Anne design, with a period of significance of 1892 to 1930.","period_of_significance":"1892-1930","architect_builder":null,"architectural_style":"Queen Anne","criteria":["C"],"status_note":"Described as in excellent condition with a high level of historic integrity; the outbuildings are deteriorated. Historic and current function is domestic.","vacant_flag":false,"machine_generated":true,"model":"claude-sonnet-5-5","prompt_version":"v1.0-2026-10-29","generated_at":"2026-10-29 02:51:50.352269-05","source_pdf":"https://s3.amazonaws.com/NARAprodstorage/lz/electronic-records/rg-079/NPS_NY/92001601.pdf"},"photo":null,"district":null,"sources":{"nps_snapshot_date":"2026-05-22","nara_catalog":"https://catalog.archives.gov/id/75315043","wikipedia":"https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Page_House_(Cohecton,_New_York)","wikidata":"https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q7124247"},"indexable":true,"url":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/new-york/sullivan-county/page-house-92001601/"}
