It keeps cure features such as glazed cure and sleeping porches, and has high integrity of design, materials, setting and association.","narrative":"Located on a large wooded lot at 112 Park Avenue in Saranac Lake, this two and one-half story wood frame house was built about 1905-1910 by the Rev. and Mrs. Walter H. Larom. Walter Larom was priest at St. Luke's Episcopal Church. Their property was laid out on the principle of an English estate, with three houses, a tennis court and formal gardens, and two of the houses were rented to tuberculosis patients and their families. Tenants included stockbroker Harris D. Stearns in 1915, and later the family of John Black, who died of the disease. The house rests on a stone foundation, with clapboard on the first floor, shingles above and a gable roof. A glazed first-floor cure porch and a second-story sleeping porch carry the features typical of local cure cottages. It is considered an intact, representative cure cottage, and it retains its original moldings, stair and five fireplaces.","period_of_significance":"ca.1905-ca.1940","architect_builder":null,"architectural_style":"Queen Anne","criteria":["A","C"],"status_note":"Still used as a single dwelling; the form describes a high degree of architectural integrity.","vacant_flag":false,"machine_generated":true,"model":"claude-sonnet-5-5","prompt_version":"v1.0-2026-10-29","generated_at":"2026-10-29 02:50:45.843249-05","source_pdf":"https://s3.amazonaws.com/NARAprodstorage/lz/electronic-records/rg-079/NPS_NY/92001428.pdf"},"photo":{"url_800":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/media/92001428/818099aba1-800.webp","url_1600":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/media/92001428/818099aba1-1600.webp","licence":"CC BY-SA 3.0","author":"Mwanner","credit_html":"<a href=\"https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Larom_Cottage,_Saranac_Lake,_NY.jpg\" rel=\"noopener\">Mwanner</a>, <a href=\"https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/3.0\" rel=\"license noopener\">CC BY-SA 3.0</a>, via Wikimedia Commons","source_page":"https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Larom_Cottage,_Saranac_Lake,_NY.jpg"},"district":{"nrhp_refnum":"93001451","name":"New York Central Railroad Adirondack Division Historic District","url":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/districts/new-york/new-york-central-railroad-adirondack-division-historic-district-93001451/"},"sources":{"nps_snapshot_date":"2026-05-22","nara_catalog":"https://catalog.archives.gov/id/75313044","wikipedia":"https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Larom_Cottage","wikidata":"https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q6489738"},"indexable":true,"url":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/new-york/franklin-county/larom-cottage-92001428/"}
