It remains virtually unaltered and retains a high degree of integrity. It was built by D.D. Parramore, son of prominent West Texas cattleman James H. Parramore, and served as something of a prototype for later local bungalows.","narrative":"Built about 1920 at the corner of Poplar and South Sixth Streets in Abilene, this 1 1/2-story Bungalow has a modified rectangular plan, brick veneer walls, and a low-pitched gable roof with exposed rafter ends. A broad two-bay porch on the east front wraps to the south side, supported by tapered box columns on brick piers. Gable ends have wood shingle siding and tripartite casement windows, and most other windows use a 3/1 light pattern. Two outbuildings share the lot: a one-story dwelling from about 1930 that contributes to the property, and a garage or storage building from about 1950 that does not. The house was built by D.D. Parramore, a rancher and son of cattleman James H. Parramore, an early Abilene leader. It was listed for its architecture, being among the city's earliest and finest Bungalows, largely unaltered, and a model for later houses of the type in the city's neighborhoods.","period_of_significance":"c. 1920","architect_builder":"unknown","architectural_style":"Bungalow","criteria":["C"],"status_note":"Current use is a single dwelling; the form describes the house as virtually unaltered with remarkable integrity.","vacant_flag":false,"machine_generated":true,"model":"claude-sonnet-5-5","prompt_version":"v1.0-2026-10-29","generated_at":"2026-10-29 02:54:21.391387-05","source_pdf":"https://s3.amazonaws.com/NARAprodstorage/opastorage/live/26/9700/40970026/content/electronic-records/rg-079/NPS_TX/92000230.pdf"},"photo":{"url_800":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/media/92000230/3619fcf55e-800.webp","url_1600":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/media/92000230/3619fcf55e-1600.webp","licence":"CC BY-SA 4.0","author":"MLL","credit_html":"<a href=\"https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:DD_Paramore_House.jpg\" rel=\"noopener\">MLL</a>, <a href=\"https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0\" rel=\"license noopener\">CC BY-SA 4.0</a>, via Wikimedia Commons","source_page":"https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:DD_Paramore_House.jpg"},"district":null,"sources":{"nps_snapshot_date":"2026-05-22","nara_catalog":"https://catalog.archives.gov/id/40970026","wikipedia":null,"wikidata":"https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q107320254"},"indexable":true,"url":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/texas/taylor-county/parramore-d-d-house-92000230/"}
