It is one of a relatively small number of local bungalows with brick veneer walls. Its broad front porch and massive squared brick columns are noted features, and it is described as one of the city's oldest and best examples of the style.","narrative":"Built about 1920 on Poplar Street, a few blocks southwest of downtown Abilene, this 1 1/2-story Bungalow has a modified rectangular plan, a low-pitched cross-gable roof with exposed rafter ends, and brick veneer walls. Gable ends carry wood shingle siding and tripartite casement windows. A broad front porch with paired box columns on brick piers dominates the east facade, and a gabled porte cochere extends from the south side. A brick garage at the southwest corner of the lot echoes the house's detailing. The house closely resembles its neighbor, the D.D. Parramore House. It is considered an outstanding local example of Bungalow architecture, a style popular in Abilene from the late 1910s to the early 1940s, and brick-veneer examples are relatively uncommon. The earliest known owner was T.T. Boyd; by 1926 Ozzie Hall, proprietor of Hall Music Company, lived there. The architect and builder are unknown.","period_of_significance":"c. 1920","architect_builder":"unknown","architectural_style":"Bungalow","criteria":["C"],"status_note":"Historic and current use is a single dwelling.","vacant_flag":false,"machine_generated":true,"model":"claude-sonnet-5-5","prompt_version":"v1.0-2026-10-29","generated_at":"2026-10-29 02:54:21.32566-05","source_pdf":"https://s3.amazonaws.com/NARAprodstorage/opastorage/live/24/9700/40970024/content/electronic-records/rg-079/NPS_TX/92000229.pdf"},"photo":{"url_800":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/media/92000229/fae729bc60-800.webp","url_1600":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/media/92000229/fae729bc60-1600.webp","licence":"CC BY-SA 4.0","author":"MLL","credit_html":"<a href=\"https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Boyd-Hall_House.jpg\" rel=\"noopener\">MLL</a>, <a href=\"https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0\" rel=\"license noopener\">CC BY-SA 4.0</a>, via Wikimedia Commons","source_page":"https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Boyd-Hall_House.jpg"},"district":null,"sources":{"nps_snapshot_date":"2026-05-22","nara_catalog":"https://catalog.archives.gov/id/40970024","wikipedia":null,"wikidata":"https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q107320255"},"indexable":true,"url":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/texas/taylor-county/boyd-hall-house-92000229/"}
