Although similar houses are common in Abilene's historic neighborhoods, few match its masonry craftsmanship and attention to detail. It remains virtually unaltered and retains its historic character.","narrative":"Built around 1930 at 1325 North Eighteenth Street in Abilene, this 1 1/2-story Tudor Revival house has an asymmetrical plan, a multiple gable roof and exterior walls of brick and stone veneer. A low, U-shaped stone wall forms an entrance terrace leading to the main door and to an arcaded sun porch at the northeast corner. An exterior chimney on the front carries two tile chimney pots, and door and window openings have Tudor arches. A weatherboard garage sits south of the house. The house was listed for its architecture. Tudor Revival was popular among local builders in the late 1920s and early 1930s, but this example stands out for its masonry: patterned brickwork, stonework in varied shapes and hues, delicately crafted pointed or ogee arches, and a chimney base that incorporates petrified wood. City directories place construction between 1929 and 1934, with David C. Fritz and his wife Docia as the earliest documented occupants. The architect and builder are unknown.","period_of_significance":"c. 1930","architect_builder":"unknown","architectural_style":"Tudor Revival","criteria":["C"],"status_note":"Currently used as a single dwelling; described as standing virtually unaltered.","vacant_flag":false,"machine_generated":true,"model":"claude-sonnet-5-5","prompt_version":"v1.0-2026-10-29","generated_at":"2026-10-29 02:54:21.02832-05","source_pdf":"https://s3.amazonaws.com/NARAprodstorage/opastorage/live/70/9700/40970070/content/electronic-records/rg-079/NPS_TX/92000215.pdf"},"photo":{"url_800":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/media/92000215/f22d082171-800.webp","url_1600":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/media/92000215/f22d082171-1600.webp","licence":"CC BY-SA 4.0","author":"MLL","credit_html":"<a href=\"https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Fritz_House.jpg\" rel=\"noopener\">MLL</a>, <a href=\"https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0\" rel=\"license noopener\">CC BY-SA 4.0</a>, via Wikimedia Commons","source_page":"https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Fritz_House.jpg"},"district":null,"sources":{"nps_snapshot_date":"2026-05-22","nara_catalog":"https://catalog.archives.gov/id/40970070","wikipedia":null,"wikidata":"https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q107320232"},"indexable":true,"url":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/texas/taylor-county/fritz-david-c-and-docia-house-92000215/"}
