It is also one of the two most intact farm complexes showing the township's agricultural history, with outbuildings that survived when most others were lost.","narrative":"Michael Crumrine started this farm near Nova in Ashland County, Ohio, and built its main house around 1861. The house is an upright-and-wing design on a stone foundation, with a front-gabled two-story section, clapboard siding, corner pilasters, a broad cornice with returns, frieze windows and an imbricated slate roof. Inside, the original oak, chestnut and walnut woodwork, including the staircase, survives. The surrounding complex includes a 75-foot barn with an addition from 1904, a carriage barn, smokehouse, outhouse, three chicken coops, a corncrib, workshops, a pigpen, a garage and a former maple sugar building. Greek Revival buildings are uncommon in Troy Township, and few others keep their integrity. The farm is also one of two in the township, with the nearly identical John Crumrine Farm, that kept the full range of outbuildings tied to historic farming. It was listed for its architecture and its agricultural history.","period_of_significance":"1861-1915","architect_builder":"Unknown","architectural_style":"Greek Revival","criteria":["A","C"],"status_note":"The house is stated to be vacant because the owners moved into a newer house to the west; the interior woodwork remains largely intact.","vacant_flag":true,"machine_generated":true,"model":"claude-sonnet-5-5","prompt_version":"v1.0-2026-10-29","generated_at":"2026-10-29 02:53:14.488703-05","source_pdf":"https://s3.amazonaws.com/NARAprodstorage/lz/electronic-records/rg-079/NPS_OH/90001779.pdf"},"photo":null,"district":null,"sources":{"nps_snapshot_date":"2026-05-22","nara_catalog":"https://catalog.archives.gov/id/71986627","wikipedia":null,"wikidata":null},"indexable":true,"url":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/ohio/ashland-county/crumrine-michael-farm-90001779/"}
