It also represents the speculative nature of Hyde Park's development. It is nominated for local architectural significance under Criterion C.","narrative":"This one-story frame house at 3904 Avenue C in Austin's Hyde Park area was built about 1911-12 as a bungalow. It rests on a pier-and-beam foundation and has a rectangular plan under a hipped roof. A one-bay porch on the east facade has tapered box columns, a gable roof with stick brackets, and a wooden balustrade. Windows are double-hung wood sash, and the entry has a transom. The house remains virtually unaltered. Builder Charles P. Ledbetter, a partner in the contracting firm Ledbetter-Mundt and a term Secretary of the Austin Builders Exchange, likely built it as speculative housing on lots first sold in 1896. He sold it in 1912 to fellow carpenter C.D. Traweek, who occupied it. The house was recognized as a well-preserved local example of an early twentieth-century house type rarely found in Hyde Park, and as representative of how the neighborhood was developed.","period_of_significance":"1911-12","architect_builder":"Ledbetter, Charles P.
