Morrison Jr. It sits in the locally designated Dignowity Hill Historic District.","why_significant":"The nomination argues local significance under Criterion C as a well detailed, popular interpretation of residential Classical Revival architecture. It is described as the only well detailed and intact example of the style in the Dignowity Hill Historic District. It also illustrates how the style was popularized in the early 20th century.","narrative":"Built in 1912, this 1-1/2 story frame house at 710 North Olive Street in San Antonio faces west across Dignowity Park. It has a pyramidal metal roof, a centered gable dormer and a colonnaded porch that wraps around the southwest corner, with fluted columns and Corinthian capitals. Inside, a bungalow-style plan carries Classical Revival details such as decorative swags, crown molding and two Ionic columns framing the dining room opening. Emmy Friedrich Morrison, daughter of the founder of the Friedrich Refrigeration Company, received the lot in 1912, and she and her husband William J. Morrison Jr. had the house built. The house was altered with kitchen, sun room and laundry additions, then rehabilitated in the 1980s using investment tax credits. It was recognized for its architecture, being the only well detailed and intact Classical Revival example in the Dignowity Hill Historic District and a good illustration of how the style spread through pattern books and prefabricated parts.","period_of_significance":"1912","architect_builder":null,"architectural_style":"Classical Revival","criteria":["C"],"status_note":"Used as a single-family dwelling and rented as such; restored using investment tax credits, with the restoration being completed at the time of the nomination.","vacant_flag":false,"machine_generated":true,"model":"claude-sonnet-5-5","prompt_version":"v1.0-2026-10-29","generated_at":"2026-10-29 02:54:20.981333-05","source_pdf":"https://s3.amazonaws.com/NARAprodstorage/opastorage/live/13/9711/40971113/content/electronic-records/rg-079/NPS_TX/90001078.pdf"},"photo":{"url_800":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/media/90001078/ec0831b7d6-800.webp","url_1600":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/media/90001078/ec0831b7d6-1600.webp","licence":"CC BY-SA 3.0","author":"Renelibrary","credit_html":"<a href=\"https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:WilliamMorrison1.jpg\" rel=\"noopener\">Renelibrary</a>, <a href=\"https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/3.0\" rel=\"license noopener\">CC BY-SA 3.0</a>, via Wikimedia Commons","source_page":"https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:WilliamMorrison1.jpg"},"district":null,"sources":{"nps_snapshot_date":"2026-05-22","nara_catalog":"https://catalog.archives.gov/id/40971113","wikipedia":null,"wikidata":"https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q110000832"},"indexable":true,"url":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/texas/bexar-county/morrison-william-j-jr-house-90001078/"}
