Munger of Britsch & Munger.","why_significant":"The nomination argues the building is a very good example of 20th century public architecture and of the Public Works Administration's impact in Perrysburg. Its French Norman Revival style, scale and materials were chosen to fit the residential character of the neighborhood. It is also one of the best-preserved and least altered examples of 20th century civic architecture in the city.","narrative":"Behind the Schaller Memorial Building on West Indiana Street in Perrysburg, Ohio, stands a brick water maintenance building finished in 1940 with Public Works Administration funding. It houses offices and equipment for the city street, sewer and water departments. The L-shaped building rests on a stone foundation under a steep asphalt shingle hip roof. Its design recalls rural Normandy architecture, with a round brick entrance tower topped by a conical roof and a large stone-accented exterior chimney beside it. Harold H. Munger of the Toledo firm Britsch & Munger, a Perrysburg resident, was the architect. Although purely utilitarian, it was styled and built of materials meant to blend with the surrounding homes. It was recognized for its architecture and as evidence of PWA work in the city. Perrysburg's earlier courthouses and library have been demolished, so this building and the Schaller Memorial Building are its best-preserved and least altered civic buildings of the 20th century.","period_of_significance":"1940","architect_builder":"Harold H.
