It is significant in architecture for its single-pen log house and its Plantation Plain main house with Greek Revival touches, both typical of vernacular building in Georgia.","narrative":"This farm complex southeast of Siloam in Greene County, Georgia, preserves two generations of early rural building. The oldest part is a one-room log house of hand-hewn logs with dovetail notching and a stone end chimney, built around 1810 on land settled after the county's creation in 1786. The larger main house, a two-over-two Plantation Plain (I-House) with a central hall, shed porches and Greek Revival details, was probably built around 1841 by George Crutchfield. A frame outbuilding from about 1840 and a barn from about 1940 also remain. The property was listed for its agricultural history and its architecture. Ownership passed from Moore and Crutchfield to the Heard and Boswell families. Farming moved from slave labor and a modest cotton crop to tenant farming, cotton production after fertilizer arrived, mule and horse trading, and later cattle. Both houses have been restored, and about 60 acres of the historic core are included.","period_of_significance":"1810-1940","architect_builder":"Unknown","architectural_style":"Plantation Plain (I-House)","criteria":["A","C"],"status_note":"Currently used as a single-family residence and camp; the log structure and main house have been restored.","vacant_flag":false,"machine_generated":true,"model":"claude-sonnet-5-5","prompt_version":"v1.0-2026-10-29","generated_at":"2026-10-29 02:55:43.295414-05","source_pdf":"https://s3.amazonaws.com/NARAprodstorage/lz/electronic-records/rg-079/NPS_GA/90000549.pdf"},"photo":null,"district":null,"sources":{"nps_snapshot_date":"2026-05-22","nara_catalog":"https://catalog.archives.gov/id/93208479","wikipedia":null,"wikidata":"https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q134356932"},"indexable":true,"url":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/georgia/greene-county/moore-crutchfield-place-90000549/"}
