It was also the model home and first building in the planned Gordonston subdivision, whose street plan radiates from Pierpont Circle.","narrative":"Two Pierpont Circle is a two-story, five-bay, brick-veneered house built in 1920 about two miles southeast of downtown Savannah. Its symmetrical front has a one-story columned portico with a projecting cornice and a paneled balustrade forming a second-floor balcony. Inside are a central hall, a doglegged staircase, seven classically styled fireplace mantels and deep molded trim. The design is believed to have been adapted by architect Olaf Otto from plans for the Wayne-Gordon-Low House. A brick garage with an upstairs apartment, built at the same time, matches the cornice of the house. The house was built for W. W. Gordon, III as the model home of Gordonston, a planned subdivision laid out around Pierpont Circle with streets extending like spokes. It was the first structure built there, though only a few other houses followed in the early period. Gordon died in 1932 and the property was sold at public sale that December. It is recognized for its architecture and its role in community planning.","period_of_significance":"1920 - 1932","architect_builder":"Olaf Otto","architectural_style":"Late 19th and 20th Century Revivals: Federal Revival","criteria":["A","C"],"status_note":"Listed historic and current function is single dwelling; the house is still in residential use.","vacant_flag":false,"machine_generated":true,"model":"claude-sonnet-5-5","prompt_version":"v1.0-2026-10-29","generated_at":"2026-10-29 02:55:42.985869-05","source_pdf":"https://s3.amazonaws.com/NARAprodstorage/lz/electronic-records/rg-079/NPS_GA/90000492.pdf"},"photo":{"url_800":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/media/90000492/7dbed08004-800.webp","url_1600":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/media/90000492/7dbed08004-1600.webp","licence":"CC BY-SA 3.0","author":"Ebyabe","credit_html":"<a href=\"https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:GA_Savannah_Two_Pierpont_Circle01.jpg\" rel=\"noopener\">Ebyabe</a>, <a href=\"https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/3.0\" rel=\"license noopener\">CC BY-SA 3.0</a>, via Wikimedia Commons","source_page":"https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:GA_Savannah_Two_Pierpont_Circle01.jpg"},"district":{"nrhp_refnum":"01000741","name":"Gordonston Historic District","url":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/districts/georgia/gordonston-historic-district-01000741/"},"sources":{"nps_snapshot_date":"2026-05-22","nara_catalog":"https://catalog.archives.gov/id/93207363","wikipedia":null,"wikidata":"https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q134148829"},"indexable":true,"url":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/georgia/chatham-county/two-pierpont-circle-90000492/"}
