It is significant under Criterion C because the building and its interior remain almost unaltered since 1880, while the outbuildings reflect the township's growing role in road maintenance and emergency services.","narrative":"Built between June and September of 1880 for about $880, this small township hall sits in the rural center of Carroll Township near Oak Harbor, Ohio. Local men Enos E. Williams and James H. Floro won the construction contract. The one-story frame building measures roughly 20 by 30 feet and has shiplap siding, a gable roof, and 2/2 double-hung windows with hoodmolds. Inside, a main room and a smaller Justice of the Peace room keep their plank floors, wainscoting, voting booths, and late 19th and early 20th century furniture. For a century the hall hosted township trustees, justices of the peace, the school and health boards, a voting precinct, farm bureau and 4-H meetings, and dances. Later outbuildings housed road equipment, a snowplow, fire trucks, and an ambulance. The hall is notable because most similar buildings in the area were altered, converted, or demolished, while this one stayed nearly unchanged and kept its original purpose.","period_of_significance":"1880-1940","architect_builder":"Enos E.
