It is five bays wide, two and a half stories tall and two rooms deep, with a small wing on the right. In the 18th century a second file of rooms was added at the rear and the roof was rebuilt with its ridge on the central axis. The house was moved back from the road in the late 1940s. Its clapboarded exterior has simple Second Period vernacular window trim and a Greek Revival doorway. The original frame is visible only in the right-hand front room and lobby, where the summer beam has flat chamfers and tapered stops. Original principal rafters survive on the front roof slope. The house was listed for the integrity of its early frame, which shows carpentry practice at the end of the First Period and may reveal more about joinery in transitional buildings.","period_of_significance":null,"architect_builder":null,"architectural_style":"Colonial vernacular exterior with a late First Period core","criteria":["C","D"],"status_note":"Recorded in good condition and in residential use; moved back from the road in the late 1940s.","vacant_flag":false,"machine_generated":true,"model":"claude-sonnet-5-5","prompt_version":"v1.0-2026-10-29","generated_at":"2026-10-29 02:13:04.938258-05","source_pdf":"https://s3.amazonaws.com/NARAprodstorage/opastorage/live/71/7898/63789871/content/electronic-records/rg-079/NPS_MA/90000221.pdf"},"photo":{"url_800":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/media/90000221/ebe7d62ef9-800.webp","url_1600":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/media/90000221/ebe7d62ef9-1600.webp","licence":"CC BY-SA 4.0","author":"User:Magicpiano","credit_html":"<a href=\"https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:HamiltonMA_EmelinePatchHouse.jpg\" rel=\"noopener\">User:Magicpiano</a>, <a href=\"https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0\" rel=\"license noopener\">CC BY-SA 4.0</a>, via Wikimedia Commons","source_page":"https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:HamiltonMA_EmelinePatchHouse.jpg"},"district":null,"sources":{"nps_snapshot_date":"2026-05-22","nara_catalog":"https://catalog.archives.gov/id/63789871","wikipedia":"https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Emeline_Patch_House","wikidata":"https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q5370359"},"indexable":true,"url":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/massachusetts/essex-county/patch-emeline-house-90000221/"}
