The architect is unknown.","why_significant":"It represents the early 20th century growth of the Belmont Street area as a neighborhood of working-class Scandinavian families. It is also an unusually well-preserved, finely detailed example of the modest Colonial Revival three-deckers popular in Worcester at the time. It was found significant at the local level.","narrative":"Built around 1912 at 19 Stanton Street in Worcester, this three-decker belongs to the last phase of three-decker construction in the Belmont Street area. That neighborhood was dominated by Swedish, Swede-Finn and Finnish families, and many residents worked as skilled metal workers in local manufacturing firms. The first known owner, Knut Erikson, was a painter who lived here through 1930. Early tenants included a carpenter, a blacksmith, a stenographer, an elevator repairman and a chauffeur. The house has a side-hall plan, a gable roof with a pediment on the main facade, and wood clapboard and shingle siding. A three-tier porch with paired square columns sits beside a shallow three-story bay window, and the windows have 2/1 sash with simple surrounds. Stairwells have geometric stained-glass lights. It is considered a remarkably well-preserved and well-detailed example of the modest Colonial Revival three-decker, and it reflects the working-class immigrant character of its neighborhood.","period_of_significance":null,"architect_builder":null,"architectural_style":"Colonial Revival Three-Decker","criteria":["A","C"],"status_note":"Condition is described as good, with no major alterations and no outbuildings; current use is residential.","vacant_flag":false,"machine_generated":true,"model":"claude-sonnet-5-5","prompt_version":"v1.0-2026-10-29","generated_at":"2026-10-29 02:13:04.185853-05","source_pdf":"https://s3.amazonaws.com/NARAprodstorage/opastorage/live/69/7932/63793269/content/electronic-records/rg-079/NPS_MA/89002438.pdf"},"photo":{"url_800":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/media/89002438/ac7de2f74a-800.webp","url_1600":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/media/89002438/ac7de2f74a-1600.webp","licence":"CC BY-SA 3.0","author":"Pvmoutside","credit_html":"<a href=\"https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Knut_Ericson_3_Decker_Worcester_MA.jpg\" rel=\"noopener\">Pvmoutside</a>, <a href=\"https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/3.0\" rel=\"license noopener\">CC BY-SA 3.0</a>, via Wikimedia Commons","source_page":"https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Knut_Ericson_3_Decker_Worcester_MA.jpg"},"district":null,"sources":{"nps_snapshot_date":"2026-05-22","nara_catalog":"https://catalog.archives.gov/id/63793269","wikipedia":"https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Knut_Erikson_Three-Decker","wikidata":"https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q6423885"},"indexable":true,"url":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/massachusetts/worcester-county/erikson-knut-three-decker-89002438/"}
