The architect is unknown.","why_significant":"The nomination argues it is significant for its link to the Scandinavian, working-class, multi-family neighborhood that developed north of Belmont Street in the late 19th century. It is also a well-preserved, well-detailed and unusually ornate example of an early Queen Anne three-decker, meeting criteria A and C at the local level.","narrative":"Built around 1894 at 152 Eastern Avenue in Worcester, this three-decker is a well-preserved example of the Queen Anne style that was popular in the city during the 1890s. It has a hip roof, side-hall plan and side-wall jog, with a single-story porch featuring an ornate balustrade, turned posts and brackets. A three-story bay window with shingled flared skirts sits beside the porch, while the rest of the house is clad in clapboard. The house stood in an early three-decker area on the hillslope north of Belmont Street, home mainly to families of Swedish, Finn-Swede and Finnish background. Many residents worked at the nearby North Works of the Washburn and Moen Company or in other metalworking firms. Machinist Eric Bostrom owned and lived in the building through the 1920s, and its tenants included a molder, a woodworker, wireworkers and a patternmaker. It is recognized for this neighborhood association and for its unusually ornate, intact design.","period_of_significance":null,"architect_builder":null,"architectural_style":"Queen Anne style Three-Decker","criteria":["A","C"],"status_note":"Present use is residential; condition is described as very good with no major alterations.","vacant_flag":false,"machine_generated":true,"model":"claude-sonnet-5-5","prompt_version":"v1.0-2026-10-29","generated_at":"2026-10-29 02:13:04.018853-05","source_pdf":"https://s3.amazonaws.com/NARAprodstorage/opastorage/live/41/7933/63793341/content/electronic-records/rg-079/NPS_MA/89002414.pdf"},"photo":{"url_800":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/media/89002414/5d09c2c574-800.webp","url_1600":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/media/89002414/5d09c2c574-1600.webp","licence":"CC BY-SA 3.0","author":"Pvmoutside","credit_html":"<a href=\"https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Eric_Bostrom_3_Decker.jpg\" rel=\"noopener\">Pvmoutside</a>, <a href=\"https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/3.0\" rel=\"license noopener\">CC BY-SA 3.0</a>, via Wikimedia Commons","source_page":"https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Eric_Bostrom_3_Decker.jpg"},"district":null,"sources":{"nps_snapshot_date":"2026-05-22","nara_catalog":"https://catalog.archives.gov/id/63793341","wikipedia":"https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eric_Bostrom_Three-Decker","wikidata":"https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q5386165"},"indexable":true,"url":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/massachusetts/worcester-county/bostrom-eric-three-decker-89002414/"}
