It is also an unusually well-preserved and well-detailed local example of Colonial Revival three-decker design.","narrative":"Built around 1920 at 80 Fairhaven Road in Worcester's Greendale neighborhood, this three-decker was first owned by Lars Petterson, a contractor who owned more than a dozen other buildings in the Greendale and Lincoln Street areas and who may have designed it. Silas Archer owned and lived in the house during the 1920s. The gable-roofed wood-frame building has clapboard siding with shingle bands between stories, a recessed three-tier porch with paired Tuscan columns, a three-story bay window, and a cornice with modillion blocks and dentils. Decorative geometric-pattern glass survives in the stairwells and front parlors. Greendale was subdivided in the early 1900s and filled with single- and multi-family homes for workers at the nearby Norton Company and for streetcar commuters. The house is valued as a representative example of that neighborhood growth and as a remarkably intact, finely detailed Colonial Revival three-decker. Early residents included a steamfitter, a foreman and a stenographer.","period_of_significance":null,"architect_builder":"possibly Lars Petterson","architectural_style":"Colonial Revival Three-Decker","criteria":["A","C"],"status_note":"Recorded in excellent condition with no major alterations; present use is residential.","vacant_flag":false,"machine_generated":true,"model":"claude-sonnet-5-5","prompt_version":"v1.0-2026-10-29","generated_at":"2026-10-29 02:12:59.876494-05","source_pdf":"https://s3.amazonaws.com/NARAprodstorage/opastorage/live/93/7932/63793293/content/electronic-records/rg-079/NPS_MA/89002359.pdf"},"photo":{"url_800":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/media/89002359/eece03e314-800.webp","url_1600":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/media/89002359/eece03e314-1600.webp","licence":"CC BY-SA 4.0","author":"User:Magicpiano","credit_html":"<a href=\"https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:WorcesterMA_PettersonArcherThreeDecker.jpg\" rel=\"noopener\">User:Magicpiano</a>, <a href=\"https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0\" rel=\"license noopener\">CC BY-SA 4.0</a>, via Wikimedia Commons","source_page":"https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:WorcesterMA_PettersonArcherThreeDecker.jpg"},"district":null,"sources":{"nps_snapshot_date":"2026-05-22","nara_catalog":"https://catalog.archives.gov/id/63793293","wikipedia":"https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lars_Petterson-Silas_Archer_Three-Decker","wikidata":"https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q6491692"},"indexable":true,"url":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/massachusetts/worcester-county/petterson-lars-silas-archer-three-decker-89002359/"}
