It has a stuccoed concrete block farmhouse and garage built 1917-1918, early farm outbuildings, a house site and about 200 acres.","why_significant":"The farmhouse is an intact rural example of the American Four-Square type and the only residential concrete block building in Hounsfield. It was built by the owner using blocks made on site. The surviving outbuildings and house site show how a farm adapted from the hay economy to dairying over nearly a century.","narrative":"Stevenson/Frink Farm lies on Salt Point Road in the middle of Hounsfield, Jefferson County, and includes about 200 acres of pasture and hayfield. William Stevenson settled the land in 1833, and it has stayed in the same family since. The farmhouse and garage date from 1917-1918, when Elias and Mary Frink built a two-story American Four-Square house of concrete block, with stucco, a pyramidal roof and a porch. Sand was hauled from Burrville and the blocks were made on site, with help from a farm hand and three local carpenters. It is the only concrete block house in Hounsfield. Earlier buildings remain nearby: a limestone smokehouse, a stable later used as a granary, a cattle barn from 1910, a second granary and the site of the first farmhouse. Together they show how the farm moved from the hay economy to dairying.","period_of_significance":"c. 1830-1918","architect_builder":"Architect unknown; builders Elias G.
