It was also the family home of prominent citizens in the first half of the nineteenth century, which supports listing under criteria B and C.","narrative":"Built around 1801, this brick Federal house at 457 Lincoln Street in Waltham began as the farmhouse of Elijah Fiske, who acquired the land in March 1801. It is a double house with a five-by-four bay profile, a low hip roof, four tall chimneys, and nearly identical west and south facades. Each has a recessed entry under a recessed elliptical fanlight, though the one on the south facade is blank. Two rear ells and a garage ell have been added, and the windows hold replacement 2/2 sash. It is one of only three brick Federal houses in the city. Family tradition credits Luke Fiske with building it for his son in 1841, but deed research points to Elijah Fiske instead. Luke Fiske was a selectman, a state representative in 1838, and the first president of the Waltham Bank. The farm once covered 120 acres, and it was later subdivided into small house lots in the early 1920s. The house is still a residence.","period_of_significance":null,"architect_builder":null,"architectural_style":"Federal","criteria":["B","C"],"status_note":"Residential use, condition described as good; the only noted alteration is a pool, and outbuildings are listed as none.","vacant_flag":false,"machine_generated":true,"model":"claude-sonnet-5-5","prompt_version":"v1.0-2026-10-29","generated_at":"2026-10-29 02:13:01.773995-05","source_pdf":"https://s3.amazonaws.com/NARAprodstorage/opastorage/live/63/7919/63791963/content/electronic-records/rg-079/NPS_MA/89001514.pdf"},"photo":{"url_800":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/media/89001514/14e2acf34a-800.webp","url_1600":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/media/89001514/14e2acf34a-1600.webp","licence":"CC BY-SA 4.0","author":"User:Magicpiano","credit_html":"<a href=\"https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:WalthamMA_ElijahFiskeHouse.jpg\" rel=\"noopener\">User:Magicpiano</a>, <a href=\"https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0\" rel=\"license noopener\">CC BY-SA 4.0</a>, via Wikimedia Commons","source_page":"https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:WalthamMA_ElijahFiskeHouse.jpg"},"district":null,"sources":{"nps_snapshot_date":"2026-05-22","nara_catalog":"https://catalog.archives.gov/id/63791963","wikipedia":"https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Elijah_Fiske_House","wikidata":"https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q5360917"},"indexable":true,"url":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/massachusetts/middlesex-county/fiske-elijah-house-89001514/"}
