It stands in West Quincy, where the 19th-century granite industry was based. The form argues it keeps integrity of design, location, materials and association.","narrative":"Built about the 1830s by Jonas Kendall of Milton, this granite house at 92 Willard Street sits on a slight rise at a busy commercial corner in West Quincy. It is a simple, traditional late Federal residence with rectangular massing, a gable roof and six-over-six sash windows. It is the only known granite house built in Quincy, and it is among the earliest homes in this part of West Quincy near the Milton line, in the area where the city's granite quarries operated. Later owners included James Graham, a stonecutter who held it from 1856 for thirty years, and George F. Fields, a real estate dealer, who bought it in 1896. By 1915 it belonged to Lorenzo Caravaglio, who owned a bottling company and an ice cream company. A wrap-around porch was added in the early twentieth century, and a one-story addition and garage were built in 1952. These changes do not obscure the original granite house, which is valued locally as one of Quincy's few intact Federal period homes.","period_of_significance":null,"architect_builder":"Jonas Kendall of Milton (erected the house; architect unknown)","architectural_style":"Federal","criteria":["C"],"status_note":"Condition described as good; in use as a single family dwelling.","vacant_flag":false,"machine_generated":true,"model":"claude-sonnet-5-5","prompt_version":"v1.0-2026-10-29","generated_at":"2026-10-29 02:13:02.230893-05","source_pdf":"https://s3.amazonaws.com/NARAprodstorage/opastorage/live/16/7924/63792416/content/electronic-records/rg-079/NPS_MA/89001383.pdf"},"photo":{"url_800":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/media/89001383/5decfca962-800.webp","url_1600":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/media/89001383/5decfca962-1600.webp","licence":"CC BY-SA 3.0","author":"Jameslwoodward","credit_html":"<a href=\"https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:House_at_92_Willard_Street_Quincy_MA_02.jpg\" rel=\"noopener\">Jameslwoodward</a>, <a href=\"https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/3.0\" rel=\"license noopener\">CC BY-SA 3.0</a>, via Wikimedia Commons","source_page":"https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:House_at_92_Willard_Street_Quincy_MA_02.jpg"},"district":null,"sources":{"nps_snapshot_date":"2026-05-22","nara_catalog":"https://catalog.archives.gov/id/63792416","wikipedia":"https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/House_at_92_Willard_Street","wikidata":"https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q5914504"},"indexable":true,"url":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/massachusetts/norfolk-county/house-at-92-willard-street-89001383/"}
