It meets Criteria A and C at the local level.","narrative":"Built around 1900 at 95 President's Lane, this gambrel-roofed Colonial Revival house sits at the edge of President's Hill, overlooking Quincy Center. It was built for Clarence Burgin, secretary and later president of the Quincy Savings Bank and father of Thomas Burgin, a long-serving mayor of Quincy. The two-and-a-half story frame house has clapboard walls, a gambrel roof, and a gambrel gable on its three-bay facade. A balustraded porch with Doric columns spans the first story, and a pedimented central entrance is framed by pilasters. A broken pediment tops the triple window in the front gable, and dentils and modillions trim the eaves. The house is considered the finest gambrel-roofed example of its style in Quincy and one of the best preserved on the hill. President's Hill was laid out in the 1890s from the divided Adams estate for affluent businessmen, civic leaders and Boston commuters. A 1909 two-car garage at the rear is noncontributing.","period_of_significance":null,"architect_builder":null,"architectural_style":"Colonial Revival","criteria":["A","C"],"status_note":"Condition is described as good; it is still used as a single-family dwelling, with no major alterations recorded.","vacant_flag":false,"machine_generated":true,"model":"claude-sonnet-5-5","prompt_version":"v1.0-2026-10-29","generated_at":"2026-10-29 02:12:59.994921-05","source_pdf":"https://s3.amazonaws.com/NARAprodstorage/opastorage/live/32/7925/63792532/content/electronic-records/rg-079/NPS_MA/89001364.pdf"},"photo":{"url_800":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/media/89001364/8012161778-800.webp","url_1600":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/media/89001364/8012161778-1600.webp","licence":"CC BY-SA 3.0","author":"Jameslwoodward","credit_html":"<a href=\"https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Clarence_Burgin_House_Quincy_MA_01.jpg\" rel=\"noopener\">Jameslwoodward</a>, <a href=\"https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/3.0\" rel=\"license noopener\">CC BY-SA 3.0</a>, via Wikimedia Commons","source_page":"https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Clarence_Burgin_House_Quincy_MA_01.jpg"},"district":null,"sources":{"nps_snapshot_date":"2026-05-22","nara_catalog":"https://catalog.archives.gov/id/63792532","wikipedia":"https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Clarence_Burgin_House","wikidata":"https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q5126423"},"indexable":true,"url":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/massachusetts/norfolk-county/burgin-clarence-house-89001364/"}
