It has a narrow, steep-pitched gambrel roof and a five-bay facade with a central entrance. The main block is one room deep, with a lean-to added later. Vinyl siding now covers the exterior, and the house remains in residential use. It was probably moved around the turn of the twentieth century, possibly from Somerville Avenue, as many Somerville buildings were. The street itself developed as a connector between Beacon Street, laid out in 1813, and the older Milk Row. By 1874 it was squeezed between a mink tannery, a bleachery and the Fitchburg Railroad tracks. The house is regarded as one of the oldest surviving residences in the city and a reminder of the Georgian houses once scattered near Milk Row. It was listed for its architecture at the local level.","period_of_significance":null,"architect_builder":null,"architectural_style":"Georgian","criteria":["C"],"status_note":"Condition is described as fair; the building is used as a residence and is clad in vinyl siding.","vacant_flag":false,"machine_generated":true,"model":"claude-sonnet-5-5","prompt_version":"v1.0-2026-10-29","generated_at":"2026-10-29 02:13:01.152229-05","source_pdf":"https://s3.amazonaws.com/NARAprodstorage/opastorage/live/22/7908/63790822/content/electronic-records/rg-079/NPS_MA/89001269.pdf"},"photo":{"url_800":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/media/89001269/a5372e7ea3-800.webp","url_1600":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/media/89001269/a5372e7ea3-1600.webp","licence":"CC BY-SA 3.0","author":"Myersj","credit_html":"<a href=\"https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:6_Kent_Court.jpg\" rel=\"noopener\">Myersj</a>, <a href=\"https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/3.0\" rel=\"license noopener\">CC BY-SA 3.0</a>, via Wikimedia Commons","source_page":"https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:6_Kent_Court.jpg"},"district":null,"sources":{"nps_snapshot_date":"2026-05-22","nara_catalog":"https://catalog.archives.gov/id/63790822","wikipedia":"https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/House_at_6_Kent_Court","wikidata":"https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q5914446"},"indexable":true,"url":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/massachusetts/middlesex-county/house-at-6-kent-court-89001269/"}
