A conical turret with a finial and patterned slate shingles tops a corner polygonal bay. The front porch has an enclosed pediment with a scrolled plaque, bulbous posts and oversized brackets, and a curved bay rises above it. The attic window sits beneath a wavy patterned gable, and carved and shingled details decorate the gable end. An ornamental brick chimney stands on the side facade. The walls are clapboard and shingle, and the house is recorded as unaltered and in excellent condition. The lot belonged to a subdivision laid out in 1855 by Chester Kingsley for high quality homes, and it stayed unbuilt for decades. Members of the Clinton M. Bacon family, a Boston coal dealer's household, owned the house in the late 1880s and 1890s. It is one of the few intact high-style Queen Anne examples in the city.","period_of_significance":null,"architect_builder":null,"architectural_style":"Queen Anne/Shingle Style","criteria":["C"],"status_note":"Recorded in excellent condition with no major alterations, not moved, and in use as a residence with a garage outbuilding.","vacant_flag":false,"machine_generated":true,"model":"claude-sonnet-5-5","prompt_version":"v1.0-2026-10-29","generated_at":"2026-10-29 02:13:01.205873-05","source_pdf":"https://s3.amazonaws.com/NARAprodstorage/opastorage/live/16/7912/63791216/content/electronic-records/rg-079/NPS_MA/89001244.pdf"},"photo":{"url_800":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/media/89001244/cdf506502c-800.webp","url_1600":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/media/89001244/cdf506502c-1600.webp","licence":"CC BY-SA 4.0","author":"User:Magicpiano","credit_html":"<a href=\"https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:SomervilleMA_CliftonBaconHouse.jpg\" rel=\"noopener\">User:Magicpiano</a>, <a href=\"https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0\" rel=\"license noopener\">CC BY-SA 4.0</a>, via Wikimedia Commons","source_page":"https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:SomervilleMA_CliftonBaconHouse.jpg"},"district":null,"sources":{"nps_snapshot_date":"2026-05-22","nara_catalog":"https://catalog.archives.gov/id/63791216","wikipedia":"https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Clifton_Bacon_House","wikidata":"https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q5133176"},"indexable":true,"url":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/massachusetts/middlesex-county/bacon-clifton-house-89001244/"}
