It is a clapboard dwelling on a lot of less than one acre, on the north side of Beacon Street near the Cambridge line.","why_significant":"The house is described as one of the best local examples of a three-bay, side-hall-entrance Italianate dwelling, with Greek Revival scale and Italianate detailing. It is also tied to George Wyatt, owner of a locally important brickyard that operated from about 1850 until the mid 1880s. It meets Criteria A and C at the local level.","narrative":"Built around 1860, this clapboard house at 33 Beacon Street in Somerville is a single-family home in the Italianate style. It has a three-bay front with a side-hall entrance plan. Its details include a raking dentil cornice with carved paired brackets, molded corner posts, a double entrance door and 6/1 sash windows with molded surrounds. The overall scale follows the Greek Revival tradition, with a temple-like gable front, while the ornament is Italianate. It is one of only a few Italianate houses remaining in the southern part of Ward II near the Cambridge line. The house is also linked to George Wyatt, one of the few mid-19th-century brickyard owners in Somerville. His claypit lay just north of the house, on land now occupied by Lincoln Park, and his yard beside the Fitchburg Railroad prospered for over thirty years, from about 1850 to the mid 1880s. The house was listed for its architecture and for this association with brickmaking.","period_of_significance":null,"architect_builder":null,"architectural_style":"Italianate","criteria":["A","C"],"status_note":"Recorded in good condition, with no major alterations, no outbuildings and no moves; present use is residential.","vacant_flag":false,"machine_generated":true,"model":"claude-sonnet-5-5","prompt_version":"v1.0-2026-10-29","generated_at":"2026-10-29 02:13:01.337652-05","source_pdf":"https://s3.amazonaws.com/NARAprodstorage/opastorage/live/82/7921/63792182/content/electronic-records/rg-079/NPS_MA/89001233.pdf"},"photo":{"url_800":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/media/89001233/72ffad4615-800.webp","url_1600":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/media/89001233/72ffad4615-1600.webp","licence":"CC BY-SA 3.0","author":"Swampyank at English Wikipedia","credit_html":"<a href=\"https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:George_Wyatt_House_in_Somerville_Massachusetts.jpg\" rel=\"noopener\">Swampyank at English Wikipedia</a>, <a href=\"https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/3.0\" rel=\"license noopener\">CC BY-SA 3.0</a>, via Wikimedia Commons","source_page":"https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:George_Wyatt_House_in_Somerville_Massachusetts.jpg"},"district":null,"sources":{"nps_snapshot_date":"2026-05-22","nara_catalog":"https://catalog.archives.gov/id/63792182","wikipedia":"https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/George_Wyatt_House","wikidata":"https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q5546555"},"indexable":true,"url":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/massachusetts/middlesex-county/wyatt-george-house-89001233/"}
