It keeps a high degree of integrity, especially inside, and has an intact contemporary carriage barn. Later owners included locally prominent figures such as Dr. Frederick Strasenburgh.","narrative":"Built around 1885 on East Main Street in the village of Lima, this two-story frame house shows the Queen Anne style in a restrained form. It has an irregular plan, a hipped roof with prominent cross gables, clapboard siding, a corbelled brick chimney, and a broad front verandah with chamfered posts and pierced fan brackets. Gable windows carry swan's neck scrollwork and a sunburst panel. Inside, the woodwork is original, along with pocket doors, a paneled stairway, a tiled fireplace and two early electric fixtures. A one and one-half story carriage barn from the same period also survives. The land was acquired by Flora Phelps Harden in 1884. Dr. Frederick Strasenburgh, a county coroner and village official, bought the house in 1890 and fitted out a physician's office whose medicine cabinets remain. Beneath its decoration lies a simple American Foursquare form, and the house is one of Lima's few intact late nineteenth century dwellings.","period_of_significance":"ca. 1885","architect_builder":"Architect unknown; builder attributed to the Pierce Brothers of Honeoye Falls","architectural_style":"Queen Anne","criteria":["C"],"status_note":"Private residence in good condition; original use and present use are both residential, with no known threats.","vacant_flag":false,"machine_generated":true,"model":"claude-sonnet-5-5","prompt_version":"v1.0-2026-10-29","generated_at":"2026-10-29 02:50:45.583414-05","source_pdf":"https://s3.amazonaws.com/NARAprodstorage/lz/electronic-records/rg-079/NPS_NY/89001142.pdf"},"photo":{"url_800":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/media/89001142/aa8fce6392-800.webp","url_1600":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/media/89001142/aa8fce6392-1600.webp","licence":"CC BY-SA 3.0","author":"Lvklock","credit_html":"<a href=\"https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Harden_House.JPG\" rel=\"noopener\">Lvklock</a>, <a href=\"https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/3.0\" rel=\"license noopener\">CC BY-SA 3.0</a>, via Wikimedia Commons","source_page":"https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Harden_House.JPG"},"district":null,"sources":{"nps_snapshot_date":"2026-05-22","nara_catalog":"https://catalog.archives.gov/id/75313436","wikipedia":"https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Harden_House","wikidata":"https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q5655865"},"indexable":true,"url":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/new-york/livingston-county/harden-house-89001142/"}
