W. Beery, a local physician and a founder and president of Peoples Bank in 1904. Bill Burnett was the contractor. The house is a \"Dormer Front\" bungalow, with a long sloping gable, a shed dormer, an integral front porch with square brick columns, an oriel window and 9/1 double-hung windows. Inside, the oak staircase, hardwood floors, plain oak woodwork, diagonal fireplaces, window seat and built-in china cabinet survive with the original plan. It is the earliest documented bungalow in the village, where the type became common mainly in the 1920s and 1930s, and one of only four brick examples among 22 bungalows built there by 1938. Dr. Beery had earlier built an American Four-Square house on West Mound Street, then moved here, less than a block from the school. A small timber garage stands at the rear.","period_of_significance":"1912","architect_builder":"Bill Burnett, contractor","architectural_style":"Bungalow","criteria":["C"],"status_note":"Still used as a single-family dwelling, as in its historic use.","vacant_flag":false,"machine_generated":true,"model":"claude-sonnet-5-5","prompt_version":"v1.0-2026-10-29","generated_at":"2026-10-29 02:53:14.245981-05","source_pdf":"https://s3.amazonaws.com/NARAprodstorage/lz/electronic-records/rg-079/NPS_OH/89001033.pdf"},"photo":{"url_800":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/media/89001033/d7b613df61-800.webp","url_1600":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/media/89001033/d7b613df61-1600.webp","licence":"Public domain","author":"Nyttend","credit_html":"<a href=\"https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:L.W._Beery_House.jpg\" rel=\"noopener\">Nyttend</a>, Public domain, via Wikimedia Commons","source_page":"https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:L.W._Beery_House.jpg"},"district":null,"sources":{"nps_snapshot_date":"2026-05-22","nara_catalog":"https://catalog.archives.gov/id/71985054","wikipedia":"https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dr._L.W._Beery_House","wikidata":"https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q136346014"},"indexable":true,"url":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/ohio/franklin-county/beery-dr-l-w-house-89001033/"}
