It is well preserved and illustrates the town's growth as a bedroom community for Boston commuters during the 1880s. It is argued to meet Criterion C at the local level.","narrative":"This 2½-story clapboard house at 22 Parker Road in Wakefield, Massachusetts, was standing by 1889 and is a high-style example of the Colonial Revival. That style is less common in Wakefield than in many other Boston-area towns. The house has a high foundation typical of the town around 1900, a hipped roof on tall corner pilasters, and three dormers on the east facade: two pedimented and one with a Swan's neck profile. A broad main entry has a fanlight and wide sidelights, a porch with a curved corner wraps the east and north sides, and a large Palladian window faces south. The land was once part of the farm of James Eustis, a merchant, farmer, auctioneer, insurance agent and selectman who settled in South Reading in 1827. His heirs began developing the property in the 1880s, as Wakefield Park was being laid out, and the area filled in over about thirty years with homes for Boston commuters. The house remains in excellent condition and keeps its original character.","period_of_significance":null,"architect_builder":null,"architectural_style":"Colonial Revival","criteria":["C"],"status_note":"Described as in excellent condition and used as a dwelling; replacement 1/1 sash was installed on the second floor around the 1950s.","vacant_flag":false,"machine_generated":true,"model":"claude-sonnet-5-5","prompt_version":"v1.0-2026-10-29","generated_at":"2026-10-29 02:13:00.835738-05","source_pdf":"https://s3.amazonaws.com/NARAprodstorage/opastorage/live/63/7906/63790663/content/electronic-records/rg-079/NPS_MA/89000735.pdf"},"photo":{"url_800":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/media/89000735/1709c58eb4-800.webp","url_1600":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/media/89000735/1709c58eb4-1600.webp","licence":"CC BY-SA 4.0","author":"User:Magicpiano","credit_html":"<a href=\"https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:WakefieldMA_22ParkerRoad.jpg\" rel=\"noopener\">User:Magicpiano</a>, <a href=\"https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0\" rel=\"license noopener\">CC BY-SA 4.0</a>, via Wikimedia Commons","source_page":"https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:WakefieldMA_22ParkerRoad.jpg"},"district":null,"sources":{"nps_snapshot_date":"2026-05-22","nara_catalog":"https://catalog.archives.gov/id/63790663","wikipedia":"https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/House_at_22_Parker_Road","wikidata":"https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q5914134"},"indexable":true,"url":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/massachusetts/middlesex-county/house-at-22-parker-road-89000735/"}
