It is a 2½-story Colonial Revival house with a garage added about 1908.","why_significant":"The house is argued to typify Wakefield's tendency to blend Colonial Revival with other styles, here Tudor Revival and Craftsman. It is well preserved and retains its integrity. It also reflects the growth of Wakefield Park as an upper-class commuter suburb.","narrative":"This 2½-story house at 32 Morrison Road in Wakefield dates to about 1906-08 and sits on a tree-shaded lot under an acre, facing west. It is clad in shingles and fieldstone and has a gambrel roof with an intersecting gambrel gable holding a Palladian window composition. A corner tower in the Tudor Revival manner projects a porch with fieldstone aprons, a technique popularized by the Craftsman style. A garage from about 1908 is also on the lot. The house lies in Wakefield Park, a development carved largely from land of Dr. Charles Jordan and J. S. Merrill. Morrison Road was among the earlier streets Merrill planned, and by 1892 Merrill and Charles S. Hanks were developing about 100 acres into an upper-class suburb for affluent commuters drawn to Wakefield's healthy atmosphere. The house was recognized for its well-preserved combination of Colonial Revival, Tudor Revival and Craftsman features, and for its link to that suburban growth, at the local level of significance.","period_of_significance":null,"architect_builder":null,"architectural_style":"Colonial Revival (combined with Tudor Revival and Craftsman elements)","criteria":["A","C"],"status_note":"Present use is a dwelling; condition is described as good, with no major alterations.","vacant_flag":false,"machine_generated":true,"model":"claude-sonnet-5-5","prompt_version":"v1.0-2026-10-29","generated_at":"2026-10-29 02:13:01.024697-05","source_pdf":"https://s3.amazonaws.com/NARAprodstorage/opastorage/live/66/7915/63791566/content/electronic-records/rg-079/NPS_MA/89000723.pdf"},"photo":{"url_800":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/media/89000723/1141f25939-800.webp","url_1600":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/media/89000723/1141f25939-1600.webp","licence":"CC BY-SA 4.0","author":"User:Magicpiano","credit_html":"<a href=\"https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:WakefieldMA_32MorrisonRoad.jpg\" rel=\"noopener\">User:Magicpiano</a>, <a href=\"https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0\" rel=\"license noopener\">CC BY-SA 4.0</a>, via Wikimedia Commons","source_page":"https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:WakefieldMA_32MorrisonRoad.jpg"},"district":null,"sources":{"nps_snapshot_date":"2026-05-22","nara_catalog":"https://catalog.archives.gov/id/63791566","wikipedia":"https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/House_at_32_Morrison_Road","wikidata":"https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q5914250"},"indexable":true,"url":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/massachusetts/middlesex-county/house-at-32-morrison-road-89000723/"}
