It retains integrity of location, setting, design, materials, workmanship, feeling and association. It also reflects the farmer/shoemaker households common in the area.","narrative":"Set on a high lot facing south at 379 Albion Street in Wakefield, this small dwelling is a 1½-story Federal house with a steep gable roof and a central chimney. The form gives a construction date of about 1726-1735, though it describes the house as typical of Federal-era building in Wakefield. The four-bay south facade may have received its second-floor windows in the Greek Revival period. The door surround has tall, thin, fluted pilasters under a simple projecting cornice, and the boxed eaves, corner boards and watertable are characteristic local details. A porch was added on the west side around 1900. The house stands on the western end of Albion Street, an area that was part of Stoneham until Wakefield annexed it in the 1880s. D. Horace Tilton, associated with the property, was a farmer and shoemaker, like many local residents who worked in small shops on their land. The house was listed for its architectural value at the local level.","period_of_significance":null,"architect_builder":null,"architectural_style":"Federal","criteria":["C"],"status_note":"Condition described as good; present use is a dwelling, with a noncontributing c. 1920 tool shed.","vacant_flag":false,"machine_generated":true,"model":"claude-sonnet-5-5","prompt_version":"v1.0-2026-10-29","generated_at":"2026-10-29 02:13:01.868749-05","source_pdf":"https://s3.amazonaws.com/NARAprodstorage/opastorage/live/43/7907/63790743/content/electronic-records/rg-079/NPS_MA/89000715.pdf"},"photo":{"url_800":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/media/89000715/72268d1fc1-800.webp","url_1600":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/media/89000715/72268d1fc1-1600.webp","licence":"CC BY-SA 4.0","author":"User:Magicpiano","credit_html":"<a href=\"https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:WakefieldMA_DHoraceTiltonHouse.jpg\" rel=\"noopener\">User:Magicpiano</a>, <a href=\"https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0\" rel=\"license noopener\">CC BY-SA 4.0</a>, via Wikimedia Commons","source_page":"https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:WakefieldMA_DHoraceTiltonHouse.jpg"},"district":null,"sources":{"nps_snapshot_date":"2026-05-22","nara_catalog":"https://catalog.archives.gov/id/63790743","wikipedia":"https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/D._Horace_Tilton_House","wikidata":"https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q5203629"},"indexable":true,"url":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/massachusetts/middlesex-county/tilton-d-horace-house-89000715/"}
