It retains integrity of location, setting, design, materials, workmanship, feeling and association. It is also tied to Deacon Daniel Green, who moved in in 1785 and came from the Green family that settled the Greenwood area.","narrative":"Located at 747 Main Street in Wakefield, this shingled dwelling faces east at the edge of Crystal Lake. Dated c. 1750-1785 by a plaque, it is 2½ stories tall, three bays wide, with a gable roof and a narrow boxed cornice without returns, a feature common in Wakefield only during the Georgian and early Federal periods. Window surrounds with simple molding remain, the windows are small, reflecting the early date, and one small interior chimney survives. The door surround has been lost, and a c. 1880 addition stands on the north. It is one of the few surviving early Federal style 3/4 houses in Wakefield. Deacon Daniel Green, born in 1733, moved here in 1785 from Stoneham, where he had been a selectman, town treasurer and church deacon. He served a year as a selectman in South Reading. His family had settled the area south of Crystal Lake, later known as Greenwood, before 1700.","period_of_significance":null,"architect_builder":null,"architectural_style":"Federal","criteria":["C"],"status_note":"Present use is dwelling; condition described as fair.","vacant_flag":false,"machine_generated":true,"model":"claude-sonnet-5-5","prompt_version":"v1.0-2026-10-29","generated_at":"2026-10-29 02:13:01.038194-05","source_pdf":"https://s3.amazonaws.com/NARAprodstorage/opastorage/live/39/7907/63790739/content/electronic-records/rg-079/NPS_MA/89000706.pdf"},"photo":{"url_800":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/media/89000706/bdbbdb0787-800.webp","url_1600":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/media/89000706/bdbbdb0787-1600.webp","licence":"CC BY-SA 4.0","author":"User:Magicpiano","credit_html":"<a href=\"https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:WakefieldMA_DeaconDanielGreenHouse.jpg\" rel=\"noopener\">User:Magicpiano</a>, <a href=\"https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0\" rel=\"license noopener\">CC BY-SA 4.0</a>, via Wikimedia Commons","source_page":"https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:WakefieldMA_DeaconDanielGreenHouse.jpg"},"district":null,"sources":{"nps_snapshot_date":"2026-05-22","nara_catalog":"https://catalog.archives.gov/id/63790739","wikipedia":"https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Deacon_Daniel_Green_House","wikidata":"https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q5245020"},"indexable":true,"url":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/massachusetts/middlesex-county/green-deacon-daniel-house-89000706/"}
