It has a rectangular plan and a low-pitched gable roof with a broad overhanging cornice. The center entrance sits within a shallow, full-height gabled pavilion decorated with a triple-arch latticework frontispiece, and one-story polygonal bays flank the door. The gable window is a pair of slender round-headed lights, and the entrance has full sidelights. The house is clad in clapboard and remains in excellent condition with no recorded major alterations. Baker lived here until the 1880s and also built the Parker House and the Adams School, for which he prepared plans and specifications. Later owners included Henry Miller, a founder of the Winchester Electric Light Company, and Thomas Macksey, the cemetery superintendent. The house was listed for its well-preserved architecture as a modest example of the Italianate style.","period_of_significance":null,"architect_builder":"Kenelum Baker, builder","architectural_style":"vernacular Italianate","criteria":["C"],"status_note":"Recorded as a present dwelling in excellent condition with no major alterations and no outbuildings.","vacant_flag":false,"machine_generated":true,"model":"claude-sonnet-5-5","prompt_version":"v1.0-2026-10-29","generated_at":"2026-10-29 02:13:01.196482-05","source_pdf":"https://s3.amazonaws.com/NARAprodstorage/opastorage/live/10/7913/63791310/content/electronic-records/rg-079/NPS_MA/89000632.pdf"},"photo":{"url_800":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/media/89000632/9b20a3a1ae-800.webp","url_1600":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/media/89000632/9b20a3a1ae-1600.webp","licence":"CC BY-SA 4.0","author":"User:Magicpiano","credit_html":"<a href=\"https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:WinchesterMA_KenelumBakerHouse.jpg\" rel=\"noopener\">User:Magicpiano</a>, <a href=\"https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0\" rel=\"license noopener\">CC BY-SA 4.0</a>, via Wikimedia Commons","source_page":"https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:WinchesterMA_KenelumBakerHouse.jpg"},"district":null,"sources":{"nps_snapshot_date":"2026-05-22","nara_catalog":"https://catalog.archives.gov/id/63791310","wikipedia":"https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kenelum_Baker_House","wikidata":"https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q6389138"},"indexable":true,"url":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/massachusetts/middlesex-county/baker-kenelum-house-89000632/"}
