It is also presented as a well-preserved rural vernacular church with Federal and Italianate features, and as one of the few remaining historic public buildings near the town center.","narrative":"Built in 1863 under the direction of Baptist pastor Daniel Rounds, this small wood-frame building on Rockwood Road in Norfolk first served as the North Wrentham Baptist church. Its gabled plan, pedimented front and central tower combine Federal proportions with Italianate windows, cornice and belfry details, and quoined corners add decoration to an otherwise modest design. The shrinking Baptist congregation merged with the Congregationalists in 1918, and the building was sold to the Norfolk Grange in 1921. After the town hall burned in 1922, the hall hosted town meetings, voting, school graduations, plays, dances, Catholic services and the public library. The Grange, formed in 1886, taught farmers and offered social contact in a farming community. Because it has changed very little and is one of few historic public buildings left near the town center, it was recognized for its local architectural and social importance.","period_of_significance":"1863-1939","architect_builder":"No architect or builder attributed; Rev.
