Its distinctive styling, extensive use of pressed metal, interesting details and early construction date make it an important architectural resource.","narrative":"Built between about 1910 and 1913 for Oscar Eckert, this 1-1/2-story brick house at 503 Koberlin in San Angelo has an irregular floor plan and a full-width front porch. Its complex roof is covered in pressed metal shingles and features numerous gabled bays and a large square corner tower with a steeply pitched pyramidal roof. Gable ends have Palladian windows, while the rear gambrel gables hold multipane units. The porch has a decorated frieze and cornice carried on Tuscan columns set on square pedestals. The main entry has narrow sidelights and a transom, and the tower windows use a 25/1 pattern. The Eckert family kept the property as late as 1927-28. The house was recognized for its architecture at the local level because it is very eclectic and unusual for San Angelo, is largely unaltered, and displays extensive pressed metal and many interesting details. The only noted change is a relocated exterior stair at the rear. It sits on a corner lot of less than one acre.","period_of_significance":"c 1910-1913","architect_builder":null,"architectural_style":"Eclectic","criteria":[],"status_note":"Physical condition is listed as good, with the site original and only the exterior rear stair moved.","vacant_flag":null,"machine_generated":true,"model":"claude-sonnet-5-5","prompt_version":"v1.0-2026-10-29","generated_at":"2026-10-29 02:54:21.913186-05","source_pdf":"https://s3.amazonaws.com/NARAprodstorage/opastorage/live/65/9701/40970165/content/electronic-records/rg-079/NPS_TX/88002578.pdf"},"photo":{"url_800":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/media/88002578/bdf41b4bea-800.webp","url_1600":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/media/88002578/bdf41b4bea-1600.webp","licence":"CC BY-SA 4.0","author":"25or6to4","credit_html":"<a href=\"https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Eckert_House,_San_Angelo,_TX.jpg\" rel=\"noopener\">25or6to4</a>, <a href=\"https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0\" rel=\"license noopener\">CC BY-SA 4.0</a>, via Wikimedia Commons","source_page":"https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Eckert_House,_San_Angelo,_TX.jpg"},"district":null,"sources":{"nps_snapshot_date":"2026-05-22","nara_catalog":"https://catalog.archives.gov/id/40970165","wikipedia":null,"wikidata":"https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q110001368"},"indexable":true,"url":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/texas/tom-green-county/eckert-house-88002578/"}
